An Amazing Holiday||Pro’s: ||Arrived at Male airport and were greeted by Adaaran staff and shown where to wait for the speedboat. We waited around 40 minutes, a smooth ride and we arrived. We were greeted by Maram who took us to Reception where she very efficiently checked us in, explained the island and gave us her Whatsapp number should we need anything.||Whilst waiting for the speedboat we were approached by a Adaaran member of staff Mohamed Saeed Assistant HR Manager who sat talking to us, he was extremely friendly and very interested in our holiday. He made a point of saying hello to us each time he saw us around the island. On our 4th day I lost my beach shoes for snorkelling, this was very annoying as is stopped me snorkelling and put a bit of a dampener on our day. I just happened to mention this to Mohamed who said he would ask around in lost property etc. They didn’t turn up but Mohamed very kindly arranged for a pair of shoes for me to use. We could have bought a pair in the shop but they were very expensive. He went above and beyond. On our last day he was even at the jetty to wave us goodbye. He made a difference to our holiday and is a great asset to Adaaran we feel. ||We were taken to our rooms by buggy and cases were carried in. Our room was in an excellent location, room number 173 right next to the entrance to the Water Villas and very close to the beach and Beach Grill.||The room was kept spotlessly clean.||The island itself was spotless, staff constantly brushing leaves and making the pathways beautiful to walk.||We spent most of our time at the part of the beach by the Beach Grill as this was so close to our room. That section of beach of beach had plenty of shade, and allowed great access to the water. ||The food at The Beach Grill was excellent as were the staff, Lohis served amazing pizzas and it was great to watch the surfers, great spot for an early evening glass of wine and to watch the sun set.||The Banyan restaurant was amazing. Culinary excellence, we were spoiled for choice, international cuisine and local delicacies. The restaurant team made each meal personal and memorable. Wide selection of dishes all beautifully presented, the staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The Indian Pavillion was out of this world, the different amount of curries, dhals and dips was off the scale. Kishanthika, the hostess was always very welcoming and helpful, took an interest in our day and made us feel special.||We did take advantage of calling Maram on a couple of occasions. She responded within minutes each time. First was to request if we could have cushions for the loungers on our terrace, they were there within the hour. Second was to say our coffee machine was faulty and again we had it replaced with a brand new one within the hour and lastly we negotiated a very reasonably priced upgrade to the Water Villas. Quoted $150 initially but negotiated down to $125. Nothing was too much trouble. ||The Tiki Bar was amazing, much better standard of drinks all round than the Ayala Bar, The Ayala Bar drinks had a odd taste on most of the cocktails and we put this down to the mixers.| |The Sunset Restaurant was beautiful, slight upgrade in food quality and drinks were much better, air conditioning was a massive bonus and was worth the upgrade alone.||The Water Villa upgrade was amazing, a little tired looking in the bathroom but the location outweighed this massively. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and on our from our evening meal we found our bed decorated in a beautiful display of vines and flowers. unfortunately we didn't get the name of the person who did this but it was a beautiful gesture. |||Cons: Although towels were given daily, we left our towels on the terrace and they were replenished. There was nowhere on the beach to leave them should you wish at the end of the day, this did make for an unsightly view as towels were strewn across trees and beds. A few bins around the island would be ideal.||I felt there weren’t enough sunloungers, if you arrived at certain parts of the beach after lunch all beds were taken, people could and did carry loungers to and from their villas but for me that’s not ideal and not inkeeping with my idea of a luxurious Maldivian holiday.||Although there were signs to say wear life jackets it came as a bit of a shock when we ventured to where our feet didn’t touch the sand, we found it quite difficult to swim against the current, this was a little frightening. The current was really strong in parts.||Despite these very few cons we had an amazing holiday overall and wouldn't...
Read moreThe island is absolutely stunning — green, lush, peaceful, with beautiful sandy beaches and sunbeds. Because of low season, we often felt like we had our own private beach, which was amazing. We stayed in Beach Villa 110. The room is spacious and comfortable, though a bit old. Still, everything worked, and if not — it got fixed quickly. Big thanks to the housekeeping team, who noticed issues and informed the facility staff without us even needing to ask. They really deserve praise. We arrived early, around 8 AM after a 15-hour trip from Zurich. The transfer by speedboat was quick and smooth. We were greeted by Maram, who was friendly and explained everything about the resort — package details, restaurant hours, and excursions. She said the room was ready, just needed to be cleaned. We agreed to wait in the lobby. After an hour, we followed up — Maram said she would check but didn’t reply for 40 minutes. After asking again, she said the facility team was fixing something. We waited in warm travel clothes, exhausted, with no updates for nearly 3 hours. When we finally called again to ask how long it would be, we were told, “Check-in is from 2 PM — we’re doing you a favor giving it earlier.” That wasn’t the problem — the issue was the lack of communication. If we had known the room wouldn’t be ready until close to noon, we could have changed clothes or planned differently. Within 15 minutes after that final conversation, we got the room. We had one dinner included at the Sunset Restaurant, which we were really looking forward to — but it turned out disappointing. When we arrived, the waiter asked our room number and gave us a table in the middle of the terrace. I asked to sit by the water — there were at least two tables free — but was told those were for Ocean Villa guests only. We left around 9:15 PM and those tables stayed empty (restaurant closes at 9:30), so it felt unnecessary and a bit rude. Service was also poor. After picking food from the buffet, we had to ask a few times for someone to take our drink order. In the main restaurant, Banyan, the waiters approach immediately. Here, we waited 15 minutes after asking for Merlot. Another waiter eventually brought Cabernet without asking. Later, a third waiter came, didn’t ask what wine we had, and poured a different one into the same glass — so we ended up with a mix of red wines. Basic training is needed if this is supposed to be a premium restaurant. And yet — if you order the $100 lobster 3-course dinner, the waiters are flying around your table. We watched it happen. I get it’s a special meal, but we also paid money to be here and deserved the same level of basic service. Otherwise, don’t market the Sunset Restaurant as something exclusive. The Banyan Restaurant was great. The buffet had lots of options — everyone could find something to suit their taste. Service was much more responsive there too. Complimentary excursions — snorkeling, sunset cruise, and dolphin cruise — were all very enjoyable and well-run. Definitely a highlight. Before arrival, I had been in touch with the reservations team about our honeymoon package, and sent our marriage certificate. Everything was confirmed by email. But when we arrived, no one knew anything about it. Only the next day, after we asked at reception, was it arranged. Again — just another example of the lack of communication throughout the stay. Evenings were quiet, sometimes too quiet. It gets dark early, and besides dinner and drinks, there’s not much going on. There were no shows or activities, which made the nights feel a bit boring after a while. That said, we really enjoyed the live music from JJ Brothers — they were excellent and created a great vibe when they played. But overall, some more variety in entertainment would be appreciated. In summary: The island is gorgeous and peaceful, the beach villa was comfortable, and the excursions and housekeeping were excellent. But communication needs work. With more attention to detail and guest experience, this place could...
Read moreWe have just returned from Adaaran Hudhuran Fushi Resort having had a great time on holiday there. We stayed for nine nights at the end of August/beginning of September. Having never been to the Maldives before we were not entirely sure what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Hudhuran.
The accommodation was good, with the Beach Villa having an amazing view of the house reef and a very short walk to the beach (just a few strides). Having an outside bathroom was a new experience for us! The room was large with good air conditioning, plenty of space for clothes and a safe for precious items, as well as a well stocked, and replenished daily, mini-bar (including the smallest Dairy Milk bars known to man!). Beach towels and bath towels are replenished daily.
The service on the island was amazing! Special mention must go to chef, Sugat, in the Banyan restaurant who served very tasty omelettes and eggs with a smile every morning, as well as the most amazing Mongolian BBQ and braised beef. Another special mention has to go to Sampah at The Beach Grill who also did everything with a broad smile and would always ask if we wanted anything else (the fish and chips were excellent).
We had our own guest relations contact in Sathees, who was on hand via WhatsApp to answer any questions as well as give us any information happening on the island such as entertainment, excursions and the like.
Food at Hudhuran was plentiful and delicious, no matter which restaurant we visited. Our go-tos were Banyan for breakfast and evening meal, and the Beach Grill for lunch. We had in our package one evening at the Sunset restaurant, where we had sharks swimming around the deck while we ate - quite an experience.
Speaking of sharks, while snorkelling off the beach we saw a few in the lagoon of the house reef. The first time was quite exhilarating - four foot black tipped reef shark casually swimming by you just yards off the beach! We also saw rays, and a multitude of fish. While we were there a couple of turtles were spotted in the house reef too.
We also took advantage of the snorkelling boat trip laid on by the resort, which was excellent. Drifting along on the current on the edge of the reef there are so many (thousands) of fish of many different kinds. We also saw a couple of turtles which was a very special experience.
There were two other boat trips included in our package - the Dolphin Cruise and the Sunset Cruise. Unfortunately we didn’t see any dolphins on the Dolphin Cruise first thing in the morning, but on the Sunset Cruise the dolphins came out to play, jumping clear of the water, racing the boats and surfing the bow wave - a truly memorable experience. The sunset wasn’t too bad either… 🙂
The island itself had several different climates, with the north and eastern sides being sheltered from the ocean breeze being quite humid and hot, while the southern and western sides of the island had constant breeze and were very comfortable conditions.
The gym was fully equipped and air conditioned, with several rowing machines, stationary bikes, a treadmill, lots of dumbbells (up to 30kg), as well as several barbells. There was also a multigym station.
The evening entertainment was varied. The DJ at the Tiki Bar was pretty good, but sadly no one took to the dance floor. The two fellows in the Hyala Bar with their guitars were brilliant and had a vast range of songs. The karaoke evening was hilarious (for all the wrong reasons!).
There were activities like aquarobics and volley ball throughout the day, but we didn’t partake. We would have liked to have used the stand up paddle boards and kayaks on offer, but unfortunately the strong winds during our stay meant that they were not available on safety grounds.
