Veli Vilaa — Hotel in Malé Atoll

We are a family of 9pax who stayed in this villa for 3 nights. From the moment we arrived at the jetty, we were treated like royalty. The warm welcoming staffs, the opulent decor and the sumptuous service they provided, all combined to give an unforgettable experience. A long review here as their service was extraordinary.

The journey from the jetty to Dhifushi took us between 40min-1hr. We took a private speedboat.

Upon arrival, We were welcomed with a welcome drink and were toured around the villa. All 4 rooms were pleasantly decorated, the toilets were sparkling clean and the view of the backyard was stunning. There are 2 rooms with joined beds and 2 rooms with 2 single beds. They set up additional bed without any fee upon our request as one of our teens does not want to sleep alone. Each rooms are equipped with the standard hotel room amenities such as kettle, mini fridge and safe box. The backyard view was breathtaking. There were swings by the beaches. Tables and chairs for you to dine and you can relax by the shore while hearing the sound of the waves. The whole atmosphere was serene. The backyard is connected by another property of theirs. There were 4 single storey bedrooms that leads to the same backyard. Despite this, each of the rooms have their own backyard right behind their rooms so you don’t have to worry about sharing it with other guest. We were told that if you came in a bigger group, these 4 single rooms will be given to you on top of the 4 bedroom villa. And even if you come in a group of 4 and book the villa, the whole villa will be yours. They will not rent out the other two rooms in the villa.

Now about the team. What truly made our stay exceptional, however was the exceptional Service. Monda and team’s service were top-notch. They went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. Monda fetched us from the jetty using a buggy. Once we entered the villa, 4 other staffs; Abdullah, Saif, Shimul and Sujon welcome you. They treat you like a family and is always at your service whenever you want. We were told that the staffs will be in the villa with us. But if we want privacy, we can always tell them and they will leave. Eventhough they were with us, they never hinder our activities. Infact, they are always there to help us in case we need anything. My 5yo girl had her toenail cut and we don’t have any nail cutter. We asked them if they have one and they brought it over to our villa. Sujon then show us around the island in the buggy and they alighted us at the beach upon our request. We were told to call them once we are done so they can ferry us back but we didn’t. We decided to explore the island by walking.

We had a full day tour the next day and a night fishing arranged by Monda. We caught some barracudas and garoupas. We brought home the garoupas and the team did outdoor bbq for us. We also ordered some food from their menu. They had speakers if we wish to play some songs. It was already late as the fishing trip ended about 9pm. Monda went an extra mile. We wanted to get some souvenirs after our dinner the next day but the shops were already close as our dinner ended late. Monda managed to call one of the shops to open just for us. It was so nice of the shop owner to do that at 11pm.

Breakfast was a game changer. They cooked English and Maldivian breakfast for us. We had toast, sausages, egg, baked beans and some Malvidian cuisine. We can also get them to cook some instant noodles that we brought from home. Each night, we will need to inform them on the time we wish the breakfast to be ready the next day.

We stayed at Veli Vilaa Dec 2029, we were first guests after lockdown, a family of 8. |The Villa owner Ahmed was very supportive, was always in touch through Whatsapp.|The villa is beautiful exactly same as in pictures, clean and nice. 4 bedroom, open dining area and many seating locations oustide. Very stylish and modern design, nice outdoor shower, mini-waterfall etc. Towels, extra bedding, bathroom amenities - all there. Nice ocean view from the main bedroom 2nd floor. |Villa staff Amin and Abdulla were very friendly and always there to help us. They were caring and kind to our kids, they even played soccer on the beach together as friends. Ahmed offered us snorkling gears and kayaks for free so we had no need to bring with us. ||There are live reefs 5 minute swim from Villa, we even found a big octopus there. The other reef is at local beach just near the shore. Even our 3 year old was snorkling there and watching coral fishes. |The ocean was fantastic, we went snorkling, diving, fishing and even caught the big Wahoo fish! |The villa beach is well equipped with beach furniture, good place to relax. |The last day villa staff served the dinner on the beach with lanterns etc, we got lobsters from fisherman and had wonderful evening.|We agreed with villa owner that we will cook ourselves and villa staff will assist to cook, serve and clean for a fee of $50 per day. That was a good option for big family and kids for a budget. We made grocery shopping and cooked pasta etc for all. We met local fisherman and they brought us fresh fish (tuna, red snapper etc) every day and we cooked it for dinner. Amin from Villa even made a fish curry cooking class for us. |Cocktails and drinks we ordered from Villa, pina colada and fresh juice was very good (don’t forget to ask no sugar option!)||Dhiffushi island is a good place for budget stay at Maldives and to get image of local people lifestyle. Island people were friendly and open. ||The only problem during our stay was garbage in the sea at the seashores except tourist bikini beach. However this was not the Villa owner fault as it was garbage from local people throwing to the sea and from nearby resort. The villa owner is also concerned about this problem and he even organized a meeting with the island council to discuss garbage problem. It should be better when more guesthouse at the island start working after quarantine and also start cleaning the beach. They also constructed the recycling facility at the island so I hope it will be resolved.||Conclusion: highly...

We stayed at Veli Villa with a group of 9 friends, and we couldn't have picked a better accommodation option! From the moment we arrived we were picked up at the Jetty in a well maintained buggy and taken to the Villa shortly, where we were greeted at the door with a refreshing welcome drink and the lovely smiles of the amazing team here. In an instant, we were made to feel like Veli Villa was our home for the next two days. The rooms are beautifully designed and well serviced, with plenty of room to store your belongings, connected bathrooms which were super spacious with a big shower area - and the best part - direct access to our very own private beach backyard area, with hammocks, cocoon swings, benches and tables, a badminton / beach volley court area, outdoor dining / bbq area, and of course the beach! We even had snorkeling gear, canoes, volleyballs, and other fun equipment provided exclusively for us at no additional charge. There's plenty of shops and cafe's at walking distance to grab a few snacks or cold drinks if needed - we had a short stay and couldn't explore the island that much, but it's definitely a great area to walk around and see what the island has to offer. The common area with the wooden deck and beanbags was a great spot for us to relax in the evening, with speakers connected where we could play music and enjoy. There's a great little dining area in the common area where they would set up food, drinks, and shisha as well if requested. We went for the outdoor BBQ option and they set up a grill and cooked up the most amazing dinner for us in the evening (photo attached). The breakfast which was included with the Villa price was amazing value as well, with continental and local options in the buffet. I'd like to add that the team never leaves out of sight without saying "if you need anything else please just let us know", and this made us feel very comfortable and taken care of. The team here definitely goes above and beyond in terms of service - special thanks to Sujan, Saif, and Abdulla who were at our every beck and call and really made the experience easy and convenient. There's few guest houses that make you feel like you're in a 5 star resort, and this was one of them. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and the general atmosphere and service was great. Our only complaint - we wish we stayed longer, but...
