Nemo Inn — Hotel in South Ari Atoll

The Nemo Inn guesthouse has some nice rooms, comfortable beds, and Moosa and his staff are pleasant and the price for the room was very reasonable. The included breakfast was good and filling (buffet style) and the rooftop area where breakfast is served had a lovely view and was breezy, or not if you ate inside. We also enjoyed going out there at night, turning off the lights, and viewing the stars. It could use a little more variety (I asked for French toast to be served one day and they obliged and it was very good. Scrambled or Sunnyside up eggs, possibly a vegetable omelet on occasion).

The downside, and most of these can be easily rectified, were the prices for the excursions (check with the diveshops) and most meals, the common areas needed serious cleaning (including the glass table in the lobby that had glass watermarks on it for the whole 10 days we were there), the room cleaning consisted of emptying the two garbage cans, an occasional floor sweeping, and leaving a bottle of water. We had to ask for toilet paper, soap and shampoo refills. After a week we had to ask that our sheets be changed (one couple we met went two weeks before having to ask), the bathroom cleaned, and the floor washed (we swept the floor nightly ourselves). Otherwise you have sand in your bed), but the absolute worst was the rotten egg smell of the water. Our first room was so bad we had to leave the bathroom door closed and we gagged everytime we went to the bathroom. If you left it opened the whole room smelled and opening the little window just let the mosquitoes in. When I complained Moosa said he couldn't smell it, but when I said that was ridiculous he moved us. The second room and bathroom didn't smell, but as soon as you turned the water on, sink or shower, you can't miss the smell.

To finish on a positive note - the romantic dinner on the beach, including the price, was absolutely amazing. They really outdid themselves and every other guesthouses setup. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was perfect. I can highly recommend the romantic dinner even if you decide not to stay here.

Other then the water smell (I have no clue how easy or hard that issue is to fix) every negative issue can quickly and easily be fixed without...

Stayed for 3 days at Nemo Inn and felt i was living in a private bungalow facing the Indian ocean..The Bungalow resort consisted of 3 floors with the ground floor being the residence of member's of Mr Moosa.Fathuhi's family which included his parent's as also a storage space for snorkel, scuba diving and deep sea fishing gear. The first floor was the main guest room accommodation of the resort while the second floor was the dining hall/Kitchen and the topmost a small private open air dining hall. The Property is well located near the main Boat Jetty entrance to Omdhoo Island . The Room was excellent with the A/C functioning excellent in the hot summer weather of the Maldives. Nemo Inn resort is run by a family of brothers and Moosa.Fathui the main face of the resort was extremely helpful . On arrival at Male' airport was received by Mr Humaid.Humey, the brother of Moosa who guided me to the speedboat for the one and fifteen minutes sea voyage to Omadhoo island.I was allotted "Room Nos 103" which had excellent A/c and a bed decorated for welcoming "Lover's" or "Honeymoon Couples" . Excellent free breakfast with free coffee or tea .A few tours like "Whale Shark " snorkel diving or "Manta Ray" snorkeling is not possible during off-season unless in a big group.Very expensive for single individual to do snorkel tours .I did the "Turtle Snorkel Safari" privately chartering a speedboat run by the brothers and spotted 2 turtles and a reef shark besides shoals of different other variety of fish...

Innanzitutto una premessa: l’esperienza delle Maldive in guesthouse è molto diversa da quella in resort, quindi bisogna essere ben consapevoli della differenza. Noi abbiamo provato entrambe le soluzioni e decisamente preferiamo le guesthouse sulle isole dei maldiviani, che per noi rappresentano le vere Maldive. In particolare ci siamo trovati benissimo al Nemo Inn (due settimane ad agosto) per i seguenti motivi: eccellente rapporto qualità prezzo: la struttura è molto semplice ma è pulita, in camera l’aria condizionata, il piccolo frigorifero e il Wi-Fi funzionano benissimo, l’acqua della doccia è calda e ha una buona pressione, il letto è grande e comodo, gli asciugamani vengono cambiati ogni due giorni e così anche per la pulizia della stanza; insomma, niente lusso ma c’è tutto quello che serve e le foto corrispondono alla realtà. Da sottolineare che è l’unica guesthouse ad avere una bella terrazza dalla quale vedere il mare mentre si mangia.|Il cibo è ben cucinato e le porzioni sono abbondanti; bisogna essere consapevoli del fatto che le derrate alimentari arrivano due giorni alla settimana sull’isola ed è praticamente tutto di importazione, quindi per tenere bassi i costi, non è pensabile avere un’ampia scelta come in un resort internazionale. Gli ingredienti principali sono pasta (cotta al dente), riso, pollo, pesce, tre o quattro tipi di verdura e di frutta, stop. Il cuoco cerca di combinare questi ingredienti in modi diversi (ottimi i curry di pollo o di pesce e i noodles), ma ovviamente i pasti sono, a rotazione, un po’ ripetitivi. La colazione prevede sia qualcosa di dolce (pane tostato con burro e marmellata, frutta, succo, a volte un dolce) che di salato (uova e salsicce di pollo). The e caffè sono sempre a disposizione, così come l’acqua in camera. Noi non abbiamo avuto nessun problema in due settimane di soggiorno e, sinceramente, quando si è in un paradiso, dei piatti gourmet non sentiamo certo la mancanza.|Il team, guidato da Moosa, è costituito da ragazzi super disponibili, simpatici e pronti a venire incontro alle esigenze dei clienti; dal punto di vista etico, preferiamo contribuire alla crescita economica della popolazione locale (che se lo merita) piuttosto che ingrassare le multinazionali dei resort.|I prezzi delle escursioni sono super competitivi rispetto ad altre guesthouse dell’isola (ci siamo informati); noi ne abbiamo fatte cinque, una più bella dell’altra: isola deserta full day, snorkeling reef esterni e sand bank, manta point in cui abbiamo nuotato due ore con le mante, e squalo balena che finalmente abbiamo visto (emozioni pazzesche!), turtle point (anche qui abbiamo nuotato con 5 tartarughe!). I ragazzi della guesthouse non solo ti accompagnano ma se vuoi ti riprendono in acqua con la GoPro e poi ti passano i video (gratuitamente), lasciandoti dei ricordi unici!|Omadhoo è un’isola meravigliosa, con una vegetazione lussureggiante, una laguna da cartolina, una barriera corallina molto ampia, viva e rigogliosa, piena di pesci, coralli coloratissimi e tanti anemoni di mare con i loro pesci pagliaccio. Per gli amanti dello snorkeling una vera meraviglia! |L’esperienza di trascorrere del tempo in un paradiso privo di inquinamento atmosferico, luminoso e acustico (per chi cerca la pace e la tranquillità è perfetto!) si arricchisce del contatto con la popolazione locale e della scoperta di uno stile di vita diverso dal nostro e di vivere un’esperienza autentica. Sull’isola sono presenti pochi negozi, tipo mini market, in cui si può trovare un po’ di tutto, e poi le scuole, la moschea, un ambulatorio medico, la farmacia. Al tramonto, dal pontile si assiste allo shark feeding, così a pochi metri si possono ammirare squali nutrice e razze giganti…uno spettacolo!|Grazie ancora a Moosa e ai suoi ragazzi per aver contribuito a rendere la nostra vacanza indimenticabile....
