Our experience was disappointing to say the least. Here are some details:
Our taxi brought us to Heritage Telfair - I knew this was incorrect for check in to The Villas, so I informed the driver and the guard at the security gate multiple times. They insisted we were in the right place so we were left at reception. Then we were told that we were in the wrong place and they would arrange a shuttle bus to take us to the right place. We waited over an hour for the shuttle to arrive (we asked multiple times what was happening, when it would arrive, and kept being assured it was on its way). Meanwhile our two young kids were very tired after our journey.
In the villa, each bedroom had a security safe. One of these was broken - this was known to hotel staff, but instead of fixing it, they told us to use a safe in another room.
Despite the website and hotel factsheet saying that all 4-bedroom villas have free use of 2 golf carts (which makes sense for 8 of us since each golf cart seats 4 people), we were informed that as our villa is “garden view” we only get 1 golf cart. This was not only an inconvenience relying on the shuttle buses for travelling between resorts, but also false advertising. Anyone reading the factsheet, please note it isn’t accurate! Then our golf cart wasn't charging, so we had to stop using it for a while to avoid getting stuck somewhere, until it was fixed.
I expected half board to include buffet breakfast and an option for buffet dinner, as with other resorts I've stayed at in Mauritius. This is not the case here. Breakfast is not a buffet. Dinner is at a choice of 3 restaurants, one of which offers a buffet on select (not all) nights. The food at Annabella’s was good quality, however service was sometimes good (thank you Lucie!), sometimes not: children's meals weren't served, we had to ask multiple times for steak knives (meanwhile our steaks went cold), our drinks order was forgotten.
Guests at Heritage The Villas are treated as second-class citizens compared to “real” guests at the Heritage resorts (Telfair and Awali). There was a sense that we’re not considered as important as other hotel guests, and we had to specifically request things that others get by default, such as beach towels or kids club bags.
The worst thing to happen was my breakfast at C Beach Club. I ordered a Bisou Bowl, which consisted of fruit, yoghurt, oats, honey, and surprisingly a piece of glass!!! I chewed a mouthful of food, it crunched, and I spat out pieces of glass. Not only was this dangerous and worrying (especially if one of the children had received this bowl), but the response was disappointing. No apologies, or reassurance that this wouldn’t happen again. They just took my bowl away and I was left to search for the toilet to rinse the glass out of my mouth. Luckily I wasn’t injured, but it could have been a lot worse. Avoid C Beach Club!! The service was terrible throughout our stay - staff are abrupt, rude, get orders incorrect, forget things you've ordered.
While checking out, we were accused of scratching the golf cart. Luckily there had been an assessment done when we arrived that stated there were existing scratches, but staff assuming we had done this was uncalled for. They had to call their mechanics to confirm the state of the golf cart before they would let us leave, while we waited over half an hour to checkout.
There were some good experiences. Khushboo and Brando were staff members that were helpful and kind to us. The villa is nice - 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, small pool, living room, well equipped kitchen, all very clean. However, not all bedrooms have a 40-inch tv, as advertised, so another thing to note if this is important to you. Wi-Fi is not great - it cuts out a lot, and can't cope with multiple devices. There was also a wasp problem!
I wouldn't stay here again - there are plenty of other resorts in this area that are cheaper, offer better service and better food (according to relatives who were staying in another resort nearby). Please find somewhere...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Heritage The Villas in Mauritius from March 30th to April 4th, 2025, and I can confidently say it was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. Nestled in the pristine beauty of Bel Ombre on the island’s unspoiled southern coast, this luxurious retreat exceeded every expectation I had, blending the privacy of a villa with the top-tier amenities of a five-star resort. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality set the tone for our stay. The villa itself was a masterpiece—spacious, impeccably designed, and equipped with everything we needed, including a stunning private infinity pool that overlooked the lush tropical gardens and distant views of the Indian Ocean. The interiors were modern yet cozy, offering the perfect balance of luxury and comfort, while the outdoor area, complete with a gazebo and BBQ space, made it feel like a true home away from home. What truly elevated our stay, however, was the exceptional service, particularly from Adarsh and, Pritesh. Their attentiveness, positivity, and genuine care made all the difference. Whether they were arranging a seamless golf cart ride to the C Beach Club, ensuring our villa was spotless, or checking in to see if we needed anything, Adarsh and Pritesh went above and beyond with a smiles that were infectious. Their dedication to making our stay perfect was evident in every interaction, and he truly embodied the spirit of Mauritian hospitality. The access to the nearby Heritage Golf Course and the two five-star resorts—Heritage Awali and Le Telfair—was a fantastic bonus. We enjoyed delicious meals at the C Beach Club, lounged by the ocean, and even indulged in a spa day that left us completely rejuvenated. The natural surroundings, from the Frederica Nature Reserve to the serene beaches, added a layer of tranquility to the experience that’s hard to put into words. Every detail of our stay at Heritage The Villas was flawless, but it was Adarsh’s outstanding service and hospitality that made it truly memorable. My family and I are already dreaming of our next visit, and I’d recommend this paradise to anyone seeking a luxurious, peaceful escape in Mauritius. Five stars aren’t enough—thank you, Adarsh, Pritesh, and the entire team, for an...
Read moreOur family arrived on different days from Australia, the UK, and USA, four of us for the first 4 nights and then a total of seven for the rest of the stay. All of us were greeted by Pritesh who is charming, always smiling and helpful. He made the initial check in easy as it was quite late and we were tired after a long journey. During our stay Pritesh was always available via WhatsApp or if we popped into reception, he booked trips for us, made changes to our restaurant bookings, and organised shuttle pickups and drop offs. Pritesh was super helpful and would always try his best to accommodate our requests.||The villas are in a very quiet, well manicured, gated residential estate. We started our holiday in a 2 bedroom pool villa which was set in a pretty tropical garden. The villa was very clean and bright and had everything we needed. After 4 nights the rest of our family arrived and we transferred across to a 4 bedroom pool villa, this was stunning and had amazing views across to the hills and, from the balcony upstairs, across to the 17th and 18th of Le Chateau golf course. ||We were on the Gourmet Bliss package which allowed us to use any of the resort's restaurants. We loved Gin'ja, the team were fun and very knowledgeable about the food on offer. La Reserve was a stunning lunchtime venue, good food in a beautiful setting. But Allan at Le Château de Bel Ombre made a special birthday night such an occasion , wonderful food in a classic, charming building.||All of the staff from the maids, the shuttle drivers, the delightful guy who topped up the villa amenities were lovely. A special mention to the ladies in the ice cream kiosk who tempted us with a blind tasting.| |The only thing that we feel could have been improved was the villa buggy. We had a 4 seater for 7 people. Occasionally we would do 2 trips to the closest restaurants, but if the villa was fully occupied with 8 this would not be possible. The shuttle was available, but sometimes with a 10/15 minute wait.||All in all a brilliant family holiday..... And did I mention the superb golf...
