Pros

Snorkeling: if you book a snorkeling excursion through a company they’ll take you here. Right off the beach there is such good snorkeling. Our kids were in the water all day long seeing fish. It’s amazing and worth it for this alone.

Service: the service is there to please you! You can text your concierge who is assigned to you. Ours made a late notice reservation at a popular restaurant. They also offer golf carts to take you around, and arrange cars for you to go offsite. At a price of course but having them arrange it is nice. We went to flora farms and had a car from the resort take us, they wait 2 hours at the location and then bring you home.

Grounds/room: everything is gorgeous and clean. The staff are incredible, we loved getting to know them. The grounds are desert landscaped and the rooms are new, modern and comfortable. We loved our own pool and outdoor shower that we used exclusively.

Adults only pool and swim up bar: if you’re looking for a quiet or romantic get away this is for you.

Swimable beach: you won’t find better conditions if you want to actually swim. We saw other resorts that told me they were swimable but they weren’t. This is one of the few blue flag beaches in the area.

Cons

Pool for kids: this is for sure not a kids resort. Our kids were fine in their pool which is large. There were always chairs available but we went in late July. But don’t expect a lazy river or slides etc. it’s straight swimming.

Sand/gravel: there isn’t sand on the beach it’s gravel and it tears your feet up. It’s hot and uncomfortable to walk in. Bring water shoes with you for sure to walk around in and save yourself.

Public beach: the beach is public and lots of locals were there with their families to swim too. Not a dealbreaker and was totally fine sharing with other families who just wanted to play in the water, but just good to know.

Food is a pro and con. It is outrageously expensive for what you get. Typical bar food and poolside menu that got old quickly. We ventured out and loved Yaya and 7 Seas. I wish they had more traditional Mexican dishes and weren’t leaning into the modern cuisine movement so hard. I would have loved to see a tamale lol! But the food is fine and some of the breakfast things at Mezcal were good but for sure not worth the price.

Tips: have your driver take you to one of the large grocery stores which are between the airport and resort when you land. Stock up on snacks. You’ll want them.

They can put a microwave or mini fridge in your room if you ask.

If you have dietary issues they are great. Celiac and gluten free were handled well and seriously. All staff were very knowledgeable abut what was gluten free and helpful.

If you have kids and they can be fine with lots of dinners, snorkeling and a quiet pool this is for you. Our kids loved it but also enjoy the typical kids resorts too.

There isn’t a lot of entertainment, live music, etc. it’s quiet. Again, we went back to our room and swam at our little pool so it was fine but sometimes a little entertainment is nice.

It’s about 25 mins into town there is construction for a new highway.

There is construction around the resort that has been going on for years and will continue. We had them move our room away from it being right against the north side of the building because of the noise. As long as you’re in the interior you’re fine but noise is heard by the pool. Not enough to detour us but just know it going in.

Overall this is a beautiful high end resort. We felt safe comfortable and well...

I typically don’t leave reviews, but I felt inclined after what I can only say was a completely perfect trip. My boyfriend and I travel frequently, have been to other Montage resorts and have high standards. With that said, we are both normal people (we are both physicians) and don’t get special treatment when we travel (not famous or tiktokers).

From the moment we get out of the pre-arranged car service and stepped onto the property. We had a small tour of the grounds, had a welcome drink waiting, and were shortly introduced to our two butlers, Odette and Moises. Both butlers during our stay made every accommodation for us, including dinner reservations , travel, and went to the local boutique to pick out hat options for me. They made a group chat with us- so we could text them with whatever we needed.

The food was simply perfect. The casual restaurant (also the pool restaurant) is called Marea, it had a more Mediterranean twist with some Mexican roots, and had some more healthy options. It’s right next to the ocean/ pool adjacent. We had lunch here both days (I highly suggest the Margarita pizza!) and ceviche and gauc by the pool. We had dinner here one night which had live music and perfect Oceanside vibe. Another restaurant on property is Mezcal, this is the more formal restaurant (very Michelin star vibe quality and presentation). We had breakfast here twice and dinner once. The service was perfection, and the food was actually Amazing. It is more traditional Mexican food but very high end. The live music they had at night was Amazing. We also did a private extra Anejo tequila tasting which was both fun and educational.

If you are looking for a beach experience, this is in my opinion the only real option. Because the Montage is in a Bay, the water is calm and safe- almost no waves, similar to the Caribbean- and you can snorkel with LOADS of fish to see. snorkeling paddle boarding kayaking are included by the hotel and there is ofcourse other water sport options as well. The only downside- is that because this bay is so gorgeous- small yachts and boats like to pull up nearby and play loud music. I was a little worried about this after seeing some reviews/ but the beach attendants are so good about watching your things we felt safe to leave all our stuff at our chairs so we could snorkel, play table tennis and walk around. The beach attendants periodically bring complimentary snacks, popsicles, and also tidy up your chairs and bring fresh towels. They also had an option for sunrise kayaking at 630am which I wish we had done.

The gym was also great, slightly small. About 6 treadmills, 5-6 ellipticals and bikes, but all new equipment. They have 2 reformers in the yoga area which I found awesome (I’ve never seen that at a hotel gym before?) they also had complimentary fresh juices. We had a tour of the spa but didn’t have any services done. The spa was one of the nicest I’ve seen in a long time. Enough said.

We go often to the Montage Laguna beach— the Laguna montage doesn’t even compare to Los Cabos - it’s like apples and oranges.

When we left the hotel for the airport- both our butlers were with us for a farewell- I have to say- this was icing on the cake, we will 100% be going back to Montage Los Cabos- bringing our friends and family, and look forward to seeing the same...

Tens across the board! It’s easy to have no worries while staying here at Montage Los Cabos, because they take care of & have thought of everything! From luxurious accommodations with gorgeous views, to impeccable service done by the housekeeping team, to your own private butler- there to assist you with every whim (special shoutout to ours, Carlos, who couldn’t have been more helpful, kind, thoughtful, cheerful, & made our trip fantastic!), Montage is sure to impress.

My arrival was like walking on clouds. From being picked up at the airport by Símon and Jonathan, to checking in and getting a tour of the resort from Aline- who was so lovely & got us an amazing room, Augusto set up our bags comfortably in the room and Carlos brought us welcome margaritas upon arrival. I was in heaven. I had some of the best meals of my life at the resort. Mezcal was incredible with the most enthusiastic and genuine hospitality service. (Special thanks to Augustina, Luc who was so welcoming, Joshua who was so fun, generous, & patient, Edgar, Fernando, - they really pulled out all the stops and made for an incredibly warm welcome to Mexico! The meal was delicious and I haven’t stopped thinking about the churros. Talay was incredible!!!! Fabulous ambience, and the great waiter shared the origin story with us which made it even more lovable, the drinks are stunning! Marea never disappointed, from gorgeous views, to live music and the Sushi Bar at night, it was amazing. (Special thanks to Marycameron, Carlos, and Kevin) I also ordered in-room dining and had the best interaction with Roman- he was personable and made me extremely comfortable to practicar mi español, it is a treasured memory! The food was delicious and the presentation was fantastic. You especially notice the five-star service at the pool and beach, where you’re greeted on the hour with refreshing treats leading up to your daily popsicle from Paletas at 4:00. Special thanks to Angel who had a smile on his face constantly, Moises & Iseth) The drinks, the food, the endless pool and beach excursion options, keep you delightfully busy with the spa available to relax in. I only toured it this visit, but the facilities are beautiful and the whole team is amazing. I did, however, wake up for the complimentary sunrise kayak and it was perfection. The peaceful environment out on the water watching the sunrise was the perfect start to a morning in Mexico. (Special thanks to Alejandro- so kind, helpful, and great at making everyone comfortable, which is a special quality. I also did the complimentary sunrise yoga class and the male J instructor was incredibly inspiring and great! He had me accomplishing the impossible with a smile on my face. And afterwards, in the gym there are snacks like fresh muffins and fruit/vegetables to sustain you during your workout in their impressive indoor/outdoor gym. I avoided going to Mexico for so many years due to safety concerns and those were tossed out the window the minute I connected with the concierge and reservations team leading up to the trip and upon arrival- I couldn’t have felt more safe and taken care of!! Keep doing what you’re doing Montage Los Cabo- I can’t wait...

The only downside to a stay at the Montage Los Cabos is the subsequent return to reality after a visit to a mythical destination where time appears to stand still. Each detail is meticulously attended to with utmost care and kindness. Every member of staff, from top to bottom, excels in their respective duties. This experience is one where both the imagined and unimagined needs that one may have seem to suddenly manifest effortlessly. A special thank you goes to Armando, the gentleman who personally looked after us. His wonderful disposition and attention to detail are truly remarkable. We also extend our gratitude to Mario in Operations and the entire staff. The service, condition of property and amenities, and the impeccably maintained landscape is very much noticed and appreciated. We are all very much looking forward to another visit to the Montage Los Cabos. My top 10 insider tips: 1. Visit the spa lots and lots and lots. The separate locker and spa areas are very well designed and comfortable. I hope they consider adding a sauna. The shared adult pool was very tranquil and serene. Plan on having lunch there. The spa attendants are on top of it! Jorge and Antonio were well-trained massage therapists. 2. Perhaps look into a room or rate type with extra services. They seem to have a variety of options. We had a full-time butler and it was incredible. We also had a customized dinner experience that was very well done and well worth the expenditure. The daily trainer was a good way to start the day. 3. Do the agave experience, we learned a good bit and the bites are a delight. Umm… ask about the Pechuga Mezcal at the beginning. :) 4. A pool cabana with a private plunge pool will be time well spent. If you’re without kids, grab a spot at the adult pool loungers, but get there early; lots of other options otherwise. No matter where you end up, the pool staff randomly make rounds with complimentary treats. Mini strawberry sorbet macaroons and chilled jicama and chamoy bites were amongst the assortment. 5. A beach cabana is great if you have a larger group, even with kids. The extra built-in amenities are very good to have. Bring water shoes. The beach is incredible but the sand is a bit coarse. 6. Snorkeling, paddle boards, kayaks, and a few other things are readily available and well-tended to. There are lifeguards on the beach, which gives a great added comfort. 7. Utilize the Paintbox kids club and great sitter services. Thanks, Clarissa! 8. Treat yourself to something special. I saw a few things being set up for romantic evenings on the beach, and they looked great. 9. Both their taxi service and private drivers are great. Book them both by the hour or for timed single rides. 10. Security on property is well looked after and discreet.
