La Casita del Campanario — Hotel in Baja California

We recently spent two nights at this place and had a great time. The rooms are very pretty for the price, have plenty of character and are quite clean. The grounds are nice and quiet, with some comfy places to sit around and relax.

Our hostess, Olivia, was wonderful. We showed up before the official check in time in an Uber because I had lost my license while packing; but she happily drove us into town to get money from an ATM; let us move into the room for a nap (even though it was only 10:00 am); then hooked us up with a driver who had a brand new car, knew the Valley really well, and only charged us $1200 pesos (about $65 USD) for a very long day of visiting vineyards.

While you don't get breakfast with your room, you do get coffee and cookies, and when Olivia saw us eating fruit and muffins our second day there, she decided to make us quesadillas just to ensure we got enough to eat. I'm sure if you wanted the full B&B experience, you could work something out with her. Although apparently she doesn't speak English, apparently her son lived in the US for quite some time and can translate if you don't speak Spanish.

The only real drawback we experienced was that our shower ran out of hot water, but even then they were super attentive in making sure the problem wasn't with the boiler and apologized profusely for making one of us wait 30 minutes for a shower. The internet can also be a bit slow sometimes, but honestly, most people don't travel to the Guadalupe Valley to watch Netflix.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this place is literally right across the street from Finca Altozano, arguably the best restaurant in the valley, and just down the road from some of the best vineyards, including Baron Balche and Adobe Guadalupe, which is about a 30-40 min walk from the hotel. It's not a million-dollar boutique hotel experience, but I thought it was really good value, and Olivia provides...

Es un lugar cálido y limpio , sirven un desayuno delicioso que está incluido en el costo . Muy recomendado . Hay dos detalles que no nos gustaron; uno de ellos es que el Pago solo es en efectivo o transferencia en el mismo lugar , siendo que en la página decía que se me haría el cobro de la mitad a mi tarjeta y la otra mitad con la misma tarjeta al llegar pero no fue así , por suerte llevábamos dinero para hacer el pago de otra forma nos quedamos sin alojamiento. La otra es que una helada noche se nos acabó el agua caliente en plena ducha y cuando preguntamos , nos dijeron que solo había un boiler PEQUEÑO y que debíamos esperar a que se calentara , lo cual nos parece terrible , por el frío y porque son muchas las personas que usan el agua caliente para un solo calentador . Aun así regresaríamos porque la ubicación y precio...

¡Amamos nuestra estancia! Quedamos encantados con el lugar, la atención y las bellísimas vistas. Rentamos el bungalow (casita) y una habitación pequeña y fue perfecto para un grupo familiar, ya que prácticamente todo el lugar lo teníamos para nosotros lo cual fue ideal sobre todo en tiempos de covid. Súper limpio y por las mañanas nos trajeron un desayuno riquísimo que incluía café, fruta de temporada y molletes y el otro día chilaquiles. Si tienen niños les fascinará porque tienen varias especies de aves que pueden ver y escuchar. El precio nos pareció justo y muy económico comparado con las demás opciones para hospedarse al visitar la Ruta del Vino. Cercano a varias vinícolas y restaurantes. Si buscan un lugar para relajarse y disfrutar en familia, no busquen más, se los recomiendo...
