This review is basically for The Terraza located at the Hostal. Regarding Hostal Tres Central, I don't have any issues and I give them a 5 stars.
The Terraza is a restaurant-bar located on the roof of the hostal. In the morning they provide free coffee and in the afternoon free tropical soft drinks. From the terraza you enjoy a beautiful view of the city and free "hamacas" to relax.
Ownership of that business is not the same of the owners of the hotel.
Here comes the bad review. During the Carnaval, I stayed at Tres Central and invited my relatives to join me for drinks and dinner at The Terraza and watch a show from there which was taking place at the Parque Central (Main Plaza).
We were a party of 10 people and we ordered a lot of drinks and food. The bill was quite high, which was okay because of our consumption of beverages and food.
Here is my aggravation: When you check in to the hostal they handle you a coupon to get a 10% discount on the food you consume at The Terrazza.
However; when paying the bill, they refused to honor that discount. That's quite misleading and dishonest to say the least.
About the food, quite horrible! My nephew and I ordered a hamburger which is the most expensive item in the menu. The meat was cheap and salty to the point my nephew couldn't digest it and started coughing like chocking. I had a bite and that was it. The rest of my relatives couldn't finish their meal for the same reason.
I hope the hostal owner looks for a better caterer, otherwise it could hurt...
Read moreIn general I give the Hostal 5 stars. This review will be based on The Terraza, a bar-restaurant located on top of the building. ||||For clarification, my review of La Terraza is negative; however, the owners of the Hostal are not the same and shouldn't affect the rating of of the Hostal.||||From the positive side, La Terraza is a nice place where you can go early in the morning and have a free cup of coffee, use the hammocks, enjoy the view of the city, use your laptop, etc. In the afternoon they provide you with a free tropical drink (agua).||||My bad experience: One night,I invited some of my relatives to have some drinks and dinner at the Terraza (we were a party of 10 people). We consumed a lot of drinks and food. One of my nephews and I ordered a "Terraza Hamburger" (one of the most expensive items in the menu). The hamburgers were horrible, salty and not the best meat. After the first bite my nephew started coughing because the hamburger was too salty and the same happened to me. Nevertheless, we didn't eat them. ||||The worst part of this experience was that The Terraza didn't honor a 10% coupon discount on food which was giving to us when we first checked in at the Hostal. ||||Owners of the restaurant-bar "La...
Read moreVery good clean rooms, feels like a hotel wit a great shower and lovely beds. When we arrived there was a note on the door that the restaurant/ bar was closed because of something privada. This note was only in Spanish and since nobody opened the door for at least 5 minutes we thoughts that despite our reservation the place was closed for this day. We where already looking for another place to stay till somebody showed up to bring vegetables for the restaurant. Happy that they were open, but a weird welcome. Too bad the bar and restaurant were closed for visit because their happened to be a private party. We choose this hostel for the rooms and for the bar... But still I can recommend this place and hopefully the door, the bar and the restaurant...
