I first stayed at Posada San Agustin about 15 years ago and continued to stay there on/off until my last trip last week, Aug 2014. I love this building, but the place had dropped dramatically in quality. The room was disgustingly dirty, smelled of sewage. The carpet is beyond horrifically disgusting, I had to place a t-shirt over my lumpy pillow just to be able to sleep on it and the mattresses were missing covers and were very stained, old and uncomfortable. I'm a very loyal client and I love this building, but after 4 nights I broke down and moved to another hotel. Yes, I gave it 4 nights! lol. The other thing you need to know is that the bars along Constitution Ave stay open until 4-5am and they are beyond noisy and disruptive. If you are brave enough to try and stay at this place I recommend slippers so your feet never tough the disgusting carpet, ear plugs (industrial strength!), buy your own pillows, and bring a strongly scented candle to temper the strong sewage smells. Pros: delightful location, superb coffee shop next door/on site-ish, I really hope that the owner will put some $ into this place - it...
Read moreWe spent several days at the San Jorge over the Christmas holidays. We had stayed there 15 years ago and had a good experience then. Downtown Durango has changed a lot in the intevening 15 years, primarily, Calle Constitucion is now a pedestrian walkway and allows for a lot of freedom in exploring the area. Our room was very clean and the desk attendants were all SO helpful. Our room accommodated 2 full size beds-- we used the second bed as a catch-all. Durango was experiencing unseasonably cold weather, but the room was warm and comfortable. The shower always treated us with nice hot water. Free internet was available at a computer on the second floor which was handy. The only complaint we had was the loudness of the music from the bar downstairs. It started about 8 or 9pm and continued until midnight. If you are a light sleeper it may be a problem. A breakfast of toast, cereal, and coffee/juice is available, and we took advantage of it one morning, but generally we went out for breakfast and to the Italian Coffee Company attached to the hotel for a good...
Read moreBeautiful old colonial building, problem is that everything inside seems to be the same age, the suite gave me the creeps! Besides that all the personnel was extremely nice and helpful, we requested a fan and it was brought to us inmediately, they kept all the cheese we had bought in refrigeration, they go beyond their duties to make your stay comfortable. The hotel is cheap and well located. Besides reading that Durango was among the most dangerous cities, we felt safe walking day and night around! Never thought we would find such a beautiful town!||The parking lot is one block away and you have to ask for the key to...
