This was our 2nd time traveling to Ensenada for our Anniversary and this time we brought friends and family to join us. We decided in staying at the City Express Plus By Marriott but ran into issues after issues.
Parking- the parking is a small garage with only 1 floor that holds maybe 15 spaces available. They had me park outside on the curb then on the dirt road on the building next door. This facility doesn’t not have the capacity to ever hold the right number of vehicles. The parking attendants were the only good thing about this place.
Check in- At the front desk is where the real headache started. The female working in the afternoon on Friday 8/4/23, took extremely long for just checking in 5 rooms but this wasn’t the issue because this could just be because she was new. 1 out of the 5 rooms, the only one that was paid for by Booking, was apparently no longer available. I’ve been in the Service Industry for 15 years and I can tell you that they were not interested in gaining our business. Even if Booking failed the very least that could have been offered was sympathy, maybe a list of possible nearby locations, because we were not from the area, or even water for my guests. We ended up booking the last room elsewhere after Booking seen the lack of assistance were we’re getting.
Rooms - The rooms were esthetically pleasing but small for the price were were paying. One of the 4 rooms we got had a sock in the sheets which was brought to the cleaning rooms attention. They suggested we just move to a different room they just cleaned. Which was confusing because we had to send friends to another hotel because we were told no other rooms were available.
Wifi- I had a few meetings I had to conclude before starting our weekend and had issues with because it kept kicking me out. I was also getting a warning from my device telling me that the wifi being used was not secured. I use do meeting in veríais locations and I’ve only gotten this notification twice from what I can remember.
Location- This area was in a contraction area and can get congested at times. The trip to downtown Ensinada was about a 15 min drive.
Breakfast - The courtesy breakfast is not what you think it will be. Cereal fruit and coffee is what you will probably get. We ended us eating nearby.
For the constant let downs I had to rate it a 1 star with most of its improvements needed on Costumer service. We extending our stay at Ensinada but ended up staying at another Hotel, cheaper, better costumer service and just as...
Read moreNow I have time to write a review of the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We travel a lot for our personal leisure, even to less developed countries, but we have never had an experience like this before. We came here for our friend's wedding and hoped to have a great time in Ensenada since it was our first time here. Unfortunately, this whole hotel situation ruined everything from beginning to end.
We booked a reservation two months in advance, paying for an upgraded king bed with an ocean view. When we arrived, we were checked into a room that was already occupied. We opened the door, and a half-naked lady stepped out of the bathroom, screaming in surprise while we both stood there in shock, wondering what was going on.
We checked with the front desk to request another room since we had only 15 minutes to change and get to the wedding venue. They gave us a temporary room, and we quickly got changed and left for the wedding venue as soon as possible because the whole hotel situation had caused us to lose time. As we were heading to the elevator, the receptionist chased after us and told us to move everything from the temporary room because it was also booked for someone else. I was confused and angry, hoping we could come back after the wedding to pack. He told us "no, sorry" and expected us to clear the room immediately. We arrived at the venue late, missing the beginning of the wedding ceremony.
After the wedding, we returned with two friends who spoke Spanish well to help us communicate. They finally gave us a room with double beds, a $20 credit, and a free breakfast which we couldn’t use. Up to today, one month after the wedding, we still have not received the credit. We've decided to move on and don't really care about getting the credit anymore because we will not return to this hotel after the whole chaotic and stressful situation with unprofessional service. Be aware and stay somewhere else if you want to avoid a stressful experience during your time...
