My husband, daughter and I just spent 9 days at Shari and Derek's wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Shari and Derek were awesome and so welcoming! We stayed in their new Casita which was the cutest little cottage sitting behind the main house. It had its own private entrance, a bedroom, bathroom, sitting area with a pull out couch, kitchenette and patio. The Casita was spotless and at any time if we needed items such as soap or more towels they were readily available.||||We were welcomed to use the games room, exercise equipment, theater and unbelievable balcony patio which overlooked the ocean. The hot tub was fantastic too!||||The breakfast they served each day was unbelievable too! Derek's blueberry pancakes were to die for and Shari made these great breakfast burritos. Coffee was on every morning upon our arrival to the breakfast room. There was always lots of fresh fruit and plenty of smiles each morning.||||My daughter really enjoyed being right across the street from the beach and close to ammenities such as horse back riding and of course 7-11 where she could get a slurpee.||||We always felt safe and secure here as the whole property was surrounded by a secure fence and only those who were staying there were given a key pad entry code. In addition they had 2 of the most amazing dogs that my daughter just fell in love with. My daughter Keara, loved Kiera the German Shepard and Vince the little Chihuaua. Both dogs were so gentle and friendly with all the guests but at the same time were not shy about barking if their was someone outside the gate that they were not sure of. This added sense of security was great. The dogs were so well trained by their owners that we never heard a peep from them in the evening or morning.||||Shari and Derek were so helpful in providing us information about the surrounding restaurants and attractions too! We went up to LasCanadas one day and went zip lining, went deep sea fishing with a local fisherman that they introduced to us (Luis) and ventured to the Blow hole.||||I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone visiting to Ensenada and look forward to returning...
Read moreLet me be very clear at the outset, if you are planning to visit Ensenada, and wondering where to stay, I highly recommend the B&B Playa Hormosa. The place is run by Derek and Shari, who are both very gracious hosts. While, we got confused by the Mexico's address nameclature, we eventually found the place with the aid of some very helpful ladies at the neighborhood Oxxo. ||||Because we had decided to visit Ensenada on a spur of a moment, I selected the B&B Playa Hormosa, based on the reviews I had read on TripAdvisor. Once we got to the place and met Derek, I was immediately reassured that we had made the right lodging decision. Parking for the guests is inside a walled fence which is reassuring given that the property is about 200 yards from the public beach. Derek, has a calm presence about him. He is authoritative without being overbearing. He does not use two words when one word will suffice. After showing us to our room and giving us the entry codes, he proceeded to tell us about/and give us directions to the local dining options. ||||Because the room I had initially selected was under renovation, we were upgraded to the king room at no extra charge. The room was very clean and the bathroom was amply stocked. In the morning, Derek made us breakfast which included very delicious homemade pancakes before setting off towards the Bufadoro. ||||As I promised Derek, wherever I am in Ensenada, the B&B Playa Hormosa is my home, and I encourage you to also try it out. Derek and Shari, thank you for your hospitality and keep up your excellent...
