Atotonilco El Viejo — Hotel in Guanajuato

The hotel, a former hacienda, is located just past the town of Atotonilco (15 minute taxi ride to San Miguel de Allende), and is a good place to stay if you are looking for some quiet. I came to this hotel to do some writing and it was an ideal place to focus and get lots of work done.||||While the hotel has lots of busy areas (around the spring water pools), there is also a huge building in the back of the property that is quiet and has lots of tables, chairs, sofas that can be used for work or for some socializing with friends. It was mostly deserted when I was there, as most people preferred to stay by the pool where there was music and loungers.||||The hotel has limited internet access (available in the pool and restaurant areas, and in some of the rooms), but there is no internet access in the area where I was working or in the reception area. There are also no phones in the rooms, which I thought was inconvenient if you decide to request something from either the restaurant, housekeeping or reception.||||The room that I had was a Master Suite, and is located in a quiet area beside the second pool. The room was clean, large, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was strong, and the room had a fan. There was no air conditioning, coffee maker, glasses or mugs available. Some of the towels looked old and had some tears in them. This is unfortunate, as the hotel is labeled a resort and has the appearance of a more luxurious hotel from the outside. I think that updating the bathroom linens and adding a coffee maker and mugs would be a plus.||||The hotel's three pools are scrubbed daily and new spring water is added. It can be a bit loud when they are being refilled, but the noise did not bother me. The grounds are spacious and there are lovely gardens on the property. ||||The restaurant was good and the servers were friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were happy and comfortable. The menu is varied and the prices are decent.||||Over all, this hotel is nice if you are looking for a place to relax for a few days or stay away from the busy atmosphere of San Miguel. It is not a place that is close to anything (restaurants, sightseeing), but you can always walk over to the town of Atotonilco or pop over to San Miguel on a taxi for 180 pesos each way, if you want to be in a more active setting. Hola buenas tardes mi nombre es Gabriela Godinez y estuve junto con mi familia hospedada con ustedes los días del 28 al 30 de Diciembre y lamentablemente nuestra estadía no fue la mejor, al contrario fue un mal sabor de boca el que nos trajimos de regreso a casa, no había agua caliente en las albercas y el clima era muy fresco así que no pudimos disfrutarlas nos dijeron que hubo un problema con la bomba, no había nada de lo que pediamos en el restaurante además que el servicio era pésimo y tardado,muy tardado porque hasta para traer un sobre de azúcar tardaban 10 minutos, en nuesta habitación salia muy poquita agua en la regadera y fría, el cable no servía por lo cual no pudimos ver la televisión, los juegos para niños no estaban en condiciones de uso ya que estaban muy sucios de varios días porque porque me fue imposible limpiarlos y cuando mecia a mi hijo en el único culumpio limpio que es como una llanta me pico una hormiga roja ya que hay hormigueros en esa zona lo cual es muy peligroso para los niños pequeños, al día de hoy me mata la comezón gracias a Dios no picó a mi hijo porque fue muy doloroso, la alberca techada que se ofrece en la página de Internet estaba vacía, el área de juegos estaba sucio, las mesas tenían telarañas e insectos muertos sobre ellas,el jacuzzi también estaba fuera de servicio en fin de lo ofecido en la página casi nada estaba funcionando,de casi todo esto deje saber a la gerente excepto lo de los juegos porque ya no tuve oportunidad de verla, por lo anterior muy amablemente nos ofreció una cabaña para disfruta de nuestra última noche y pasarla más cómodos y aunque su intención fue buena nos resultó contra producente ya que no había agua caliente para bañarnos lo reportamos pero tardó mucho en calentar y solo alcanzó a bañarse mi esposo ya que nos quedamos dormidos y bueno para rematar la cabecera de la cama estaba completamente suelta y cada que nos moviamos nos despertaba el choque de la cabecera con la pared y bueno pues honestamente no fue nada barato lo que pagamos para lo que recibimos. Así que se imaginarán que nuestras vacaciones con ustedes van a ser inolvidables y más que nada para mis hijos que esperaron tanto esos días, espero y con estos comentarios que se que no fui la única en hacerlos tengan más cuidado porque ustedes pueden hacer unas vacaciones inolvidables por maravillosas o por terribles, hoy nos tocó a nosotros no olvidarlas por terribles pero espero y esto sirva para que a alguien más se las hagan...

This place was so disgusting, worst experience ever! Horrible customer service 10 minutes of waiting and nobody appears, no apologies for delay Leaking tub. 1/2 roll of bath tissue Floor was beyond filthy.I didn’t like anything. The rooms are in poor condition and everything is very dirty. under the bed was filthy with dirt and dust looked like it had been forgotten about by the cleaner. No tv signal (any channel available) No body answer phone calls, after 10 no answered phone calls I give up No water , we needed to use pool water to flush the toilet on a raining night Just take a look at muy Google photos I asked for refund and they ignored me Not worth the price.
