We stayed here touring the Sierra Gorda missions. The missions are beautiful and this little town, Jalpan, is really a lovely town and not to be missed. The main hotel, The Mision Hotel on the Plaza is definitely beautiful, but we much preferred Maria del Carmen for the parking, pet policy (they had no problem with our 5kg Yorkie), lovely pool and wonderful staff. The rooms are split into two wings - one wing has A/C and one wing has fans. Both wings are joined by a courtyard pool and the A/C wing has a restaurant downstairs. The A/C wing rooms are very colonial and balconies overlook the town soccer field, which comes in handy during the weekly Sunday game.||||We loved the town and loved the hotel and instead of staying overnight, extended our stay to 3 nights. The staff was lovely and accommodating of our pet (who was a perfect guest, natch) and the room was always...
Read moreAfter a long bus journey from DF we were disappointed that we could not eat in the hotel as it shut in 30mins. We were then given a room that looked out onto a very very noisy road - we asked to move but the staff would not oblige. The beds were rock hard, the room was noisy, and the bath room was dated and dirty. We were issued with only 2 towels - no foot mat was provided - I slipped on the wet bathroom floor and dislocated my big toe nail - lots of blood and pain!!! My husband later discovered that the male gardener spoke good english - we still do not know why the management do not use him to liase with guests. We DO not recommend this hotel - stay on the bus! The only helpful friendly place in town is a tiny PIzza takeaway tucked up a side street, delicious pizzas and...
Read moreStayed here in summer 2025 and had a great experience. The hotel is right next to the garden and across from the Mission, so the location is perfect. I stayed in a suite on the new side—great AC, comfy beds, Wi-Fi, toiletries, and breakfast included. Some rooms face the street and can be noisy during the day, but nights are quiet. Staff is friendly and there’s always someone at the front desk. Check-in/out was smooth. Pool closes at 9 p.m., and breakfast is from 8–10 a.m. The restaurant and bar close early at 4 p.m., but town is close for other options. Underground parking is a big plus....
