We have been to Casa several times and it never fails to deliver. This is a fabulous getaway. The hotel rooms and public spaces are refreshingly unique - a welcome departure from conventional five star facilities. Each room is different and each is carefully and creatively curated. The public spaces share that same unique aesthetic and offer a variety of opportunities to read, relax, sip a tequila and, of course bask in the sun. The pool area is quiet with several different accommodations for lounging from chaise lounges to private pergolas. My wife and I prefer to stay on the beach which sits directly in front of the hotel - an umbrella, loungers and towels are always set up for us when we arrive after breakfast. The food is consistently delicious. There are multiple dishes available at breakfast, lunch and dinner and if nothing meets your fancy, the chef will go out of his/her way to make sure you are happy. The place and the food alone would make this a five star destination, however, it is the people of Casita Mia de Mita that make this place truly outstanding and memorable - it keeps us coming back at least once every year. Mauricio, Lalo, Memo, Manuel, Carlitos, Carlos, Jonathan and, of course, Arturo are the most wonderful people you will ever meet at a hotel. The landscape and housekeeping people are always courteous, quick to meet whatever request you have and keep the hotel in good order. We consider them all family. And of course I can't forget Madison and Lucas (the canine crew) who are equally wonderful. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed, pampered, humored and attended to in a fashion that gives you privacy as well as service. It doesn't get any better. ||Paul and Emily...
Read moreI'm writing this review from the pool deck hiding in the shade of a lounger. My husband is floating in the pool. We've both just ordered our first margaritas of the day. We're on our last full day here, and I can assure you we will return. This boutique hotel is a slice of magic on the Pacific Ocean. We wake up with the sun and watch in silence for whales from our balcony. After a few quiet cups of coffee in our room, we head down to the pool for breakfast next to the ocean. What's for breakfast? Anything you want. I can't stop ordering the chilaquiles. My husband is doing a better job of sampling the kitchen's offerings. It's all wonderful. Lunch is usually your choice of 2 entrees. The seafood is incredible--even at lunch in tacos. Dinner is generally a choice of 4 options, sometimes 3. We had earth-rocking, incredible shrimp last night. Sea bass the night before. The food is fantastic all day long. The service is quiet and excellent. Want to be alone? You can be alone. Want to chat? You can chat. There are only 8 rooms at the hotel so you'll see familiar faces all day, but the vibe is very low-key. People are here to relax. There's music at the pool but nothing too exciting. Spanish guitar vibes; grown-up pop tunes. It's whale season now in this part of Mexico. The humpbacks are easily visible from the hotel. I brought binoculars down to make sure we could see them clearly. We've seen a couple of wild shows of them leaping full-bodied out of the water; other times they're just quietly curving their backs above the surface to breathe. Magical. The hotel books up well in advance. You'll need to make a plan to visit or just get very lucky if you're a...
Read moreWe stayed at Casa de Mita in January, 2019 and it was one of the best trips of our lives. Additional details are below, but I think the best recommendation I can provide is that when we checked in, my wife and I were the only first-time guests at the property. Everyone else had been there at least 3-5 times. One couple had been there for 15 years running. We are following their lead and have booked a return trip for 2020.
The service was impeccable, always attentive but also respectful of privacy. All of the staff were welcoming and personable: they take pride in their work and it shows. For example, on the first day, we left breakfast and read by the pool. After an hour or so, we asked for coffee. We repeated the same thing the second day, but I did not have to ask for the coffee: just about the time I was gearing up to go get it, someone came by the chair and asked if I wanted one. Same thing every day thereafter (and with the first margarita and Pacifico of the day). Further, the staff members were extremely generous with their time and attention, answering my random questions regarding local history, economy, etc.
The food and drinks were personalized and delicious, incorporating local products and recipes. The seafood was particularly special.
The beach is public, which we found to be a plus: my wife joined in a soccer game one afternoon. We preferred the feeling of being part of the country rather than walled off in a compound. We also felt very safe outside of the property. We walked the beach every day and even took a run into Punta de Mita.
I cannot recommend this...
