My husband and I took our babymoon + celebrated my birthday this past week and had an unbelievable stay. Maroma, Belmond is a hidden gem in the Yucatan, if you are looking for a relaxing, pampered trip with unmatched service and to be engulfed in a beautiful aesthetic everywhere you look, this is the place!
I must start with expressing our gratitude for our personal hosts, Sabrina + Carlos, who went above and beyond to make our last trip as a couple, before kids relaxing, rejuvenating and so special. We will not soon forgot your superb hospitality and kindness to ensure our trip was nothing short of perfect

PRE-ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN: About a month prior to our arrival, I received an email from Stephany, an experience curator, requesting our preferences ranging from pillow choices to timing of morning coffee service. I completed the form; albeit with some skepticism about whether the requests would be fulfilled. To the resort’s credit, every detail was delivered as requested. Stephany was responsive to my emails and provided good restaurant recommendations off-property based on our interests.
Arriving at Maroma is like being welcomed into a private residence. The airport transfer included complimentary Veuve Cliquot Champagne and snacks for the 30-minute drive from Cancun airport to Maroma. The resort has no check-in area/lobby. You are greeted with a delicious Maroma margarita and a Mayan cleansing ritual. Check-in occurs in the comfort of your room.
SERVICE: All members of staff we encountered were eager to exceed expectations. From the drivers (Adelo and Luis), to the spa attendant (Elena), pool and beach staff (Luis, Sergio and Cesar), bellman (JJ), the hosts and servers at Casa Mayor -- they were outstanding. Credit to management for fostering a team to deliver this level of service.
We were assigned two dedicated hosts during our stay (Jean-Luc and Fernanda) who were our points of contact. Without being intrusive, they proactively checked in with us. Responses to WhatsApp messages were prompt.
ROOMS: We had a junior suite with an ocean view. The adult pool was at our doorstep and the beach just a few steps further. The property is a showcase for sustainability with décor honoring regional materials and craftsmanship with beautiful tiles, marbles, pillows and rugs. Thumbs up for the excellent air conditioning and water pressure. There was a full-sized bar in the suite with complimentary coffee, water, and soft drinks. Housekeeping was thorough twice a day.
PROPERTY: The property’s design is a blend of Mayan heritage and contemporary elegance. It’s all curves in keeping with Mayan culture and transitions dissolve walls between indoor and outdoor spaces. The grounds are lush (200 acres) - you walk around listening to the ocean waves and birdsong. I loved it!
GYM AND SPA: Gym is well-equipped with Techno-gym equipment, free weights, and cable machines. I had the gym to myself every day. Spa is a Guerlain spa and includes a sauna, cold plunge and hydrotherapy. Loved my spa service with Elena!
ACTIVITIES: There are a number of daily complimentary activities including water sports. We did the jungle bike tour and a yoga session with Adriana. The hotel also offers a number of experiences, some of which may be included depending on the room category.
POOLS AND BEACH: There are three pools, including one adult-only. Service at the pool and beach was attentive with refreshments and small bites offered regularly throughout the day. While seaweed has been affecting much of Rivieria Maya, the crew worked diligently to keep the beachfront clear at Maroma. It did not detract from our enjoyment of the beach.
RESTAURANTS: There are two restaurants, Casa Mayor and Woodend. Breakfast was good especially the fresh quesadillas from Tia Mari. We dined off-property in...

If you want your every need catered to even before you are aware of them, then Belmond Maroma Resort And Spa is a dream come true for you. You are greeted by name out front by your personal agent who checks you in on the spot without having to stand in line at a checkin desk. You are also offered complementary marguerites. You are then taken on a private tour of the property on your way to your room. Ours was a magnificent ocean suite fit for a King, Queen, and/or Lovers. Breakfast is delicious with lots of healthy choices, a beautiful view, and service to match. Next we met with one of our personal agents of the day to arrange our itinerary for the next few days. We decided on scuba diving based on the hotel property, a half day private tour of nearby Mayan archaeological sites , and a tour and swim in uniquely beautiful cenotes (ie open underground water caves with stalagmites). Then onto a pristine fine white sand beach with warm ocean water reflecting many shades of blue and green while gently lapping up against the shore while playing soothing lullaby like sounds made by the waves. Magically someone appears to clean your sunglasses, something I have never experienced or for that matter even thought of. Next lollipop cucumbers with spice, again another first. I could go on and on, and this is just the first day. But I am signing off so I can enjoy this blissful paradise unfettered. Stay tuned, you never know what new joyful surprise Belmond Maroma Resort will come up with…😊😊🙏🙏
Update On Maroma, A Belmond Hotel At Riviera Maya: Just when you think it cannot get any better… it does
Since my last posting, we have been at this paradise resort another 4 days. It just keeps getting even better and better… which I did not think was possible. I would like to thank individually each member of the staff who has made our stay so special and memorable …but the list would be sooooo looooong…. One of many examples of how your personal agent/assistant goes way beyond the norm. After returning from a wonderful private tour to the archaeological site of Coba estimated to contain over 20,000 temples, and to a nature park of cenotes led by the knowledgable, interesting, and extremely nice and social Israel of 4 Worlds Expedition, much to our delight we found a drawn bath full of bubbles and wonderful scents… Ahhhh… Need I say more… so I won’t. Let me end, at least for now, with a shoutout to Ian Richardson, the General Manager here at The Belmond Resort And Spa. Long live the Maroma, A Belmond Hotel At Riviera Maya - the Best of the Best. As Arnold Schwarznegger used to say: “I will be back”…...
