PROS: The hotel is beautiful, bright, new, fresh design... only 4 weeks old. The staff was friendly and mostly accommodating, and this was the BEST bed I have ever slept on at a hotel ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
...But here are a few things that need to be addressed before I consider this to be up to the standard of a Holiday Inn Express and Suites
CONS #1. The IHG website for this hotel (http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/hermosillo/hmota/hoteldetail/amenities) indicates that they have "On-site Guest Self-Laundry Facilities (washer/dryer)". They did NOT have these. They reported that they were not yet installed. A) shouldn't be on the website if it isn't true yet. and B) should have offered to pay for an outside service to do my Laundry... It took several hours over a few days to get Laundry done at peoples homes (including Christmas day because we were out of clothes) and really detracted from vacation time
#2. The breakfast offering was local cuisine, which is a welcome choice, but the food was poor quality, wasn't replenished enough, it ran out before breakfast hours were over, and the cleaning of the breakfast area wasn't thorough (we saw the same dry cereal flakes that spill on the carpet 3 days in a row - no one even vacuumed or swept an obvious spill). I would have preferred a coupon or credit to eat breakfast at one of the 8 or 9 restaurants within a 2 minute walk of the hotel...
#3. This seems trivial, but for other addicts like me, it's critical. Every Holiday Inn or IHG hotel I stayed at in 2014 (50+ nights in 15+ properties in 4 countries on 3 continents) has coffee and cups in the lobby all day long. But not here. Silly as it is, I would pick another hotel over this one for that reason. The equipment is there, please just keep them full.
CONCLUSION I will definitely give this hotel one more chance because I travel often to Hermosillo for Business and leisure and this hotel is beautiful and in a great location. I am optimistic that they will correct...
Read moreWe stayed here 11 nights. The checkin was nice but we must admit we were disapponted to have to go to a smaller room due to the hotel having all the big rooms next to the elevator shaft. The staff though, made this a very easy change.
We had breakfast everyday. It was delicious! A wide variety that was constantly being refilled and refreshed. Whenever the tortilas were no longer warm or something was looking empty, the breakfast guy, was prompt and helped me with a smile. Was very friendly service.
The cleaning ladies were all also very nice.
The guys holding the door for you also had a warm greeting or a smile all the time, Salvador was particularly nice.
The staff at the front desk were also always able to help, in a very friendly way, and not in the tired, what do want kind of way you sometimes get at hotels. Once the vending machine was out of diet cokes and the lady dug one out probably out of their fridge and ran behind me to give it to me. I found that so so nice and caring.
I personally would choose this hotel 1000 times over because I felt so good while being here.
The hiccups? The water pressure was a little unstable, but we didnt...
Read moreI stay in Holiday Inn Express regularly wherever I travel. Primarily it is because they are quiet, clean, orderly, comfortable -- and predictably so. Staff is wonderful. I have never in memory been in a Holiday Inn that I wasn't extremely satisfied with. All that said, the Hermosillo location is probably a cut above. I had been traveling under stress through several towns along the coast. But the moment I pulled into the Hermosillo HIE, I felt safe and at home. The desk help was friendly and professional. The lobby area is high class. Don't forget to put your hotel key card in the slot in the wall as you walk in, or you won't get lights (I like that little feature, by the way). Room was clean. Bed was so comfortable I fell immediately to sleep. And when I went down -- having told them I was leaving quickly, very early in the morning -- the receptionist was raising my neatly enveloped receipt up to meet me as I approached the counter. How in the world did he know who I was, what room I had come from? That was just too cool! I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommended this...
