I highly recommend you go elsewhere for a better room that is larger and of better value. Details: The bad: I paid approx 1600 pesos ($77 USD) plus a 1000 peso ($50 usd) pet deposit which is , supposedly, refundable. We will see on that-I have little confidence that our pet deposit will be refunded, although our pets do no damage. The room was shockingly small for the price, I guess less than 100 sq ft. Hubby and I could not pass each other in the hallway nor at the foot of the bed it was so cramped. And additionally there is very little space at either side of the bed. (queen size bed) The bathroom shower was a water saver and directly overhead with no adjustments, so it is hard to get the lower parts truly clean. The phone was broken and we called and they brought a new one, this morning the phone is not working. When they replaced the phone last night they did not replace the plug in headset and that is broken too. Refused that we order drinks at the bar and take them to the room. When you check in with pets they make you sign something that says the pets will never be left unattended in the room so you can't avail yourself of a drink as they won't let you in the bar area with pets. Good: The staff is very, very kind and trys to be helpful. Not sure what is up with the rules/management at this place. Overnight security in the...
Read morehip-noxious. ibis prides itself on it’s synthetic, self proclaimed hipster image. The truth is that cool people don’t need to get in your face and tell you about how cool they are. after 15 hours on the hot hot highway, being slammed in the lobby with very loud, fake jazzy christmas music (in mid june) was quite unpleasant. honestly, it was too loud to have relevant dialogue with the check in counter host. both of us strained to comprehend what the other was saying. i arrived to a hot stuffy room, and they knew i was coming, i had advance reservations. bathroom quite worn, stained, and foul smelling. the only window has a metal frame which is warped and broken. Smoke alarm is flashing 2 green lights obnoxiously all through the day and night. 2 towels, yes, hand towels and washcloths not. The whole experience is very mumbai claustrophobic, which is what indians with money are impressed with. no refrigerator, which is a little too hipster for me. I arrived at midnight, and outside was still hot like an oven. I really needed that refrigerator for some if my overheated items. on a positive note, the 2 towels do not reek of detergent, which was a very pleasant surprise after years of the opposite at countless hotels. desk in the room is wide and quite usable. parking lot is overseen...
Read moreMy room was standard Ibis: minimal and clean, but also bigger than some. (Go elsewhere for more charm or local flavor.) The location is boring (government buildings, a big hospital, etc.) but it's also just a 15-minute walk to the cathedral, etc. There's an OXXO two blocks away by the river where you can buy six liters of Bonafont drinking water for 29 pesos.||||If you're staying somewhere else, check out the breakfast buffet here for 159 pesos. (The San Sebastian buffet is probably much larger but also costs 250 pesos... maybe go there if you're starved?) I love creative food, and this breakfast buffet was -- on weekdays, at least. (I don't know if weekends are different if the chef isn't here). No typical US-type buffet of scrambled eggs and waffles here. For instance, this morning the two standouts were grilled ham in onions, green peppers and tomatoes, and chiles rellenos.. The server offered me hot tortillas (flour or corn) off the grill. There were four kinds of fruit juice and three kinds of fresh fruit, cold cereal and yogurt, as well as the usual quesadillas and soupy beans. (I understand that you can also order another breakfast -- maybe eggs...
