Casa Almar — Hotel in Tamaulipas

We stayed in Casa Almar for 39 nights and absolutely loved our experience there. The employees are very friendly, the property and rooms were extremely clean, and the restaurant on site offered a wide selection of food choices. We especially enjoyed the breakfast each morning during our stay. One of the biggest highlights was the ability to order from the pet menu for our dog and eat in the courtyard.

Tampico Centro and the surrounding areas provide so many fun filled activities, restaurants, and stores all within walking distance. We only used our vehicle to go to the beach, movies, and church. When we were not using our car, it was safely parked in a locked parking lot provided by the hotel. Casa Almar is teamed up with Tampico Enjoy Tours where you receive a 10% discount on all of their tours. We enjoyed four amazing tours with this company to San Luis Potosí (Puente de Dios and Cascadas Tamasopo), Cenotes, Tampico History, and Kayaking Laguna del Chairel. These trips were absolutely amazing and we wouldn’t have known about them without the friendly staff at Casa Amar.

This place is fine, it's not advertised as a hotel so things are done differently. Reservation is online only because there's not reservation desk. To get in the room you will be giving a code for the main entrance and one for the room. Parking is free but in a different property (around the corner). Walking to downtown is 10 minutes away. One restaurant is located in the same building, one home cooking style restaurant is located across the street and rent of bicycle can be done across the street. Also you will find a little convenience store next to the building. Some other business are located across the street. A small sports park is located half block away. I was forced the make an advance like a safe deposit of 500 MXN (the host asked me for 1K MXN), she returned only 427 MXN due rate variances. She lives in US. The room has a problem with the bathroom, there's no escape for the water in the bath. The air-conditioned don't reach the first room, it's a complete sauna out of the main room. There's a small fridge in the cabinet. You don't have space to store your things. The cleaner will not clean will room until will be out. There's only one thrash can in the bathroom.
