We had a really nice one night stay at this property. The property was very quiet/empty, and not taking reservations on the website. The hotel staff said that it is because it is currently changing owners, but that travelers may be able to call to make a reservation.||I want to thank the tour guide that the hotel arranged - Jaime, though I might not be spelling that right. He used an iPad to show old photos of the site's history, and brought us around the site efficiently while pointing out interesting details on the ruins with a laser pointer. He many wonderful photos of our family at the site - he is a very good photographer and got well-lighted photos of us without others in many of them (and then airdropped them to us). We had done a 7:45 am tour to get to the site before the crowds. We really enjoyed the photos later. Thank you!||Also, we thought that the food was very good - because there were so few groups staying, we ordered our own items, and had a delicious dinner and full breakfast (visited by a large peacock). We had a comfortable family bungalow which was beautiful with nice bathrooms, and the kids enjoyed the hammocks on the porch, and the pool outside...
Read moreDECIETFUL! LIES! So the Lodge at chichen itza” has employees sitting under a tent next to the toll booth right off the highway. They say free tourist maps and info to bait you in. They run you through the options, try to sell you extras, even a buffet meal, and then ask you which option you’d like to choose. When asked if tickets could be purchased at the main gate...we were told “no, they must be purchased here. There is nowhere else to buy them” we believed him, although I questioned it in my head. As soon as we pulled down into the parking lot of “The Lodge at Chichen Itza”, I knew we had been lied to. We just wanted the basic entry and to walk around on our own. We didn’t need all the extras they tried to get us on. Entry fees at the gate are 242 pesos, we were charged $425 pesos each. If you are looking to go the cheap route, don’t listen to the lying employees who pose as “official information of chichen itza” and then throw you a sales pitch they try and say...
Read moreThis is a unique property located deep in the jungle next to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. It's fairly rustic but very comfortable. Most of the windows in our bungalow did not have glass. They had screens and wood shutters that we could close. The roof was thatched and had a small hole in it which probably leaks when it rains. There was mosquito netting over the bed which gave it an adventurous feel. We did have air conditioning and a television, however. At night it was wonderfully dark and quiet. We stayed one night and wished we had stayed two. There is a small planetarium on site but shows are at limited hours and we didn't have time to go. The private tour of Chichen Itza arranged by the hotel was excellent. This is a fun place to relax while you soak up the history and the beauty...
