This beautiful, traditionally decorated, hotel is arranged on five floors with several small flowery courtyards and many pretty communal areas, which, like the bedrooms, show off hundreds of pieces of artwork. You may need a guide on your first visit to find the place up many winding alleyways. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the central area of the city but taxis can get to withing 100 meters of the riad if they know where to come. We could not find a detailed map of the medina area.||||Our hosts were very efficient and very knowledgeable about Meknes, getting around, train timetables, etc. One great boon was that they can order a taxi to take you anywhere at costs lower than we could find in the street and the driver picks you up from the riad exactly on time. ||||A generous breakfast was included in the price and the one time we had dinner there it was delicious and reasonably priced. They did not object to our bringing our own wine (hard to find in Meknes). You need to pay your hotel bill in cash. The wifi was only available in a first floor...
Read moreHave just had such a bad experience at this riad for dinner. My wife and I went just for dinner and ordered from the set menu - one meat tagine and one vegetarian. We were the only guests. The vegetarian one came with pieces of chicken and lamb in it. When we told the waiter he whisked it away and came back with a vegetarian tagine - no apology and no offer of something different instead. I didn't want it after seeing the vegetarian option was so obviously prepared as a meat option with meat pieces probably taken out afterwards. We didn't want to stay or eat any more, but the waiter just walked away from us while we were talking to him taking away the mains in a huff came straight back with dessert we didn't want. He then refused to take anything other than full price for the whole meal. He said it wasn't his fault as he was not in the kitchen and refused to call the manager. When we left my wife was in tears. Totally ruined the day.||In short: don't come here if you are vegetarian, and good luck getting good service if anything goes wrong...
Read moreThe location is great, if you want to stay in the medina, the price is acceptable, it's clean, it looks nice, it's quite, you get a nice breakfast in the morning and the restaurant is probably the best in Meknes. ||||I really did like my stay here. I loved the look of the place. The owner wasn't mean to mean, per say, but he just didn't seem like a people person. ||||My room did have air conditioning, it's wasn't the strongest. It cooled the room, but just barely enough. I was pretty close to asking for a new room. ||||All things considered, I'd stay here again if I visited Meknes. ||||Even if you don't stay, I highly recommend...
