Madrasa Bou Inania — Attraction in Meknes

Advance warning to any potential visitors: this museum is in a bad state, there are absolutely zero explanations, and most of it is closed for renovation. They still charge you 60 dirhams to enter (about €6) and they do not refund you if you tell them that you did not enjoy it and would like you money back. Instead, they stamp your ticket and send you to the ministry responsible for managing the museum. They obviously get a lot of complaints. The Marrakech Museum or the Madrasa in Fès are far better options at the moment (the Madrasa in Marrakech is also being renovated at this time). I’m giving it two stars because the engraved and Zellige tiled walls in the one room that’s open are nice, although falling off in many places. This place is a disappointment. I can see that some of the people below actually rated this after seeing the one in Fès which might mean that Google accidentally takes you here if you search for a Madrasa, which could be why the average rating is not like 2,5 instead of what it is now. :( We also tried a few other attractions in Meknès like the Mausoleum - which is also closed for renovation and the royal stables, which is very obviously not worth the 70 dirhams they are asking from you there. Overall, the only thing we liked so far in this city is our Riad, otherwise a grossly overrated...

It's more than fine to pay 60 dh to see an historical place but it should be well mantained, with written information and you should get out with a renewed knowledge and this is not the case. You get inside, see the central garden (with indeed beautiful decorated walls) but the fountain is not working and the entire building seems to fall down. No one explication, no one panel, not even the light to see what you should see. 5 minutes are more than enough for the entire tour and finally you have just learnt nothing at all. آية من آيات الفن والإبداع المعماري والزخرفي، وأحد أهم المعالم التاريخية في مدينةمكناس العريقة، يعود تاريخ تأسيس المدرسة البوعنانية إلى القرن الرايع عشر للميلاد، على يد السلطان المريني أبي الحسن.

أنفق السلطان المريني أبي الحسن على أعمال بناء المدرسة بسخاء لتظهر على هذه الصورة من الجمال، ويُقال أنه عندما قُدمت له الرسوم المتضمنة تكاليف البناء والزخرفة، أمسك الأوراق وأغرقها في صهريج صحن المدرسة دون النظر إليها، هذا إن دل على شيء فإنما يدل على رغبته في أن يجعل منها ليس فقط صرحا معماريا وهندسيا بل إشعاعا ثقافيا وعلميا يضاهي به المدارس العالمية آنذاك.

لكن القدر لم يسمح له في رؤية مدرسته، إذ وافته المنية وأعمال البناء مازالت مستمرة فيها، فأكمل من بعده ابنه السلطان أبو عنان فارس بناء المدرسة وتم افتتاحها عام 1345م.

تُشابه هذه المدرسة في تصميمها المعماري المدارس التي بنيت في عهد الدولة المرينية، فهي تتكون من صحن أوسط مكشوف يتقدمه من الجهة الجنوبية إيوان القبلة، أما غرف وحجرات الطلاب فتتوزع حول الجهات الثلاث الأخرى، بتصميم يشابه مدرسة ابن يوسف بمدينة مراكش.

تتميز المدرسة البوعنانية بأعمدتها وأبوابها المزخرفة بزخرفة غاية في الجمال، وهي عبارة عن زخارف زهرية وهندسية على الخشب والجبس والزليج، ونقوش كتابية بحروف عربية، إضافة إلى ضخامة مساحتها واتساع إيوان القبلة وتعدد الحجرات، وعظم صهريجها الذي يتوسط الصحن المكشوف.

ولايزال هذا الصرح المعماري والثقافي يحتفظ ببنائه وعظمته إلى يومنا هذا، ويعد رمزا تاريخيا لمدينة مكناس، ومقصدا للسياح والزوار ليُمتعوا أنظارهم بمشاهدة أحد أهم المعالم الأثرية الثقافية والسياحية...
