From the moment we arrived at L’Ma Lodge, we were welcomed like part of the family. Sofiane, Hachim, Amine, and Karim looked after us with such kindness, generosity, and care — truly as if we were their own. Our stay was filled with laughter, banter, and genuine warmth, making this the most beautiful stay of our trip in Morocco so far.||The lodge itself is a piece of heaven: a lush green paradise in the middle of the dried-out Palmeraie, lovingly maintained down to the smallest detail. It’s peaceful, relaxing, and alive with the sweetest resident cats — Blue, Chaussette, Garfield, Netflix, Nachos, and Bouchon — who add an extra touch of charm.||The food deserves its own praise: every meal was delicious, lovingly prepared by the talented Fatima (Sofiane’s wife), whose cooking we’ll remember long after leaving. And if you’re looking to completely unwind, don’t miss a massage with Zorah — she doesn’t just soothe your body, she heals your soul.||On top of all this, their thoughtful recommendations for things to do in the region showed not only how well they know the area, but also how much they value and love it.||Vanessa and Xavier may not always be there, but the spirit of their lodge shines through the incredible team who make L’Ma Lodge such a special place.||Shukran bzaaf to Sofiane, Hachim, and Amine in particular for making our stay truly...
Read moreIn some ways I hate to let the secret out and invite the masses to such an intimate place, but if you must know...The L'Ma Lodge is stunningly beautiful, the staff is incredible (shout out to Hakim), and the food is amazing, too. The tranquility of this place is truly surreal. It's like you stepped into a magazine. The garden/sitting/common areas...wow. The small bumpy dirt road leading to it makes you a bit uneasy as to where you're about to overnight, but all fears are assuaged as soon as you step through the door. A sense of calm washes over you. Vanessa has created something here that is as close to heaven as I can imagine. We did a bike tour through the little village (starting and finishing at the lodge) that turned out to be a highlight of our Morocco trip. Thank you, Abdul, for showing us your land, your home, the "real Morocco": the peaceful and simple (but clever) farming community right there in Skoura. We learned how water from the mountains is divided within the village and passed on as inheritance from generation to generation. If you want to experience Morocco's specialty--magic behind an unassuming door at the end of an "uh-oh this doesn't look very nice" road--I can't imagine you'll ever find a more perfectly satisfying example...
Read moreI am being generous at three stars as grounds of property are beautiful and really well maintained.||||Our problems started with the air conditioner in our suite. Upon arrival, we were told it didn’t work and only the overhead fans work. When I called my agent, another person came to room and turned on unit which wasn’t blowing out much air. One of the staff was yelling at me telling me we needed to call ahead of time to put on the air. Not knowing, our driver did call to have air turned on 45 minutes before our arrival. The owner came to room and graciously moved us to a smaller room that was a bit cooler.||||You have no choice at dinner. Soup was great but everything else was blah. The owner did waive our bottle of wine and bottled water.||||Towels felt like saw dust. Breakfast pancakes were done ahead of time and were hard. Why don’t they cook them as per guest request. They only have a few rooms here and seems they don’t care about quality.||||Take my warning and stay somewhere else. Luckily we were going to desert and only...
