The transfer, despite its high price more a luxurious hotel would charge you, felt more like a shuttle designed for a group coming from the beach rather than a comfortable ride for a solo 2h road to the place. When the driver came to pick me up after a long flight, he didn’t offer any help with my luggage which is usually standard, especially when you pay a high price for the transfer. I had to drag my suitcase myself to the van. The seating inside was cramped and uncomfortable, like a grand taxi or a school trip van, with very limited space for my feet. Which doesn’t make sense when it is a one person, and vans normally have a van conference seating. After a long flight, I expected the bare minimum comfort booking their service when I could have just got a grand taxi, not to be squeezed into a van set up and meant for groups. Additionally, there was no water provided in the car for the entire 2-hour trip, which is the bare minimum for the service.
At the accommodation, there was no water waiting in the rooms upon arrival, which felt odd and disappointing. The food quality has significantly declined compared to before; one meal was so bad that I had to take medication afterward due to stomach pain. The chefs were very flexible and helpful but the meals leaves to desire.
The wifi is so weak, in every floor. it’s barely enough to send messages, but forget about work or Zoom calls, and even streaming videos constantly buffer and interrupt.
One of the most disappointing experiences was witnessing the highest manager yelling loudly and disrespectfully at staff during the day, right in front of everyone while I was having lunch. I felt ashamed and so uncomfortable that I put my headphones on to avoid hearing it. I honestly couldn’t believe I had contributed financially to an entity that treats its staff this way. It was humiliating for everyone involved. I also saw another manager, Ayoub, screaming at staff in front of clients again, which left a very negative impression.
On a brighter note, Bouchra and Houria were absolute gems, incredibly helpful, kind, and flexible. They really stood out as the best part of my stay. I travel a lot and don’t mind spending extra but when the service is below average then it’s a big no! This was below a hostel...
Read moreMy two sons and I spent 3 nights at Dar Zeitoun. We were there to surf and had signed up for the surf package which included surf coaching, equipment, use of the equipment all day after the lesson, and dinner. Ostensibly you go to Imsouane to surf - I can't think of why one would go otherwise (maybe paragliding). The town is pretty ramshackle and fly bitten. However, the surfing is amazing, even in low season. In this context, Dar Zeitoun shines. The surf coaching was the best we had experienced in Morocco and we had taken lessons at three other beaches. Adrien and Ashraf were superb instructors. Owner Amine was great and laid back. Olo Surf House sits just below the Dar Zeitoun Villa and the surfing is run out of that premise but both have direct access to the beach and the waves through a 5 min walk. Dar Zeitoun is truly an oasis in Imsouane. It is incomparable in terms of class, service and a cool vibe. It is a chic, boutique hotel with perhaps 9-10 rooms, several of which are off the main house and are called bungalows. The three of us stayed in a bungalow which was small and while modern and impeccably clean, left us no space or desire to hang out in. The shower was superb and no shortage of solar heated water. However, the entire place is designed to hang out around the immaculate infinity pool with black tiling and magnificent view and gorgeous garden. We arrived just after they had opened up after months of closure due to the confinement related to Covid-19. The service was excellent. Four different staff took time to remember all three of our first names. They were on every request. I asked for a fan in the room and they went and bought one from Agadir - a 2 hour drive away. We've lived in Morocco for 2+ years and Lucia and her staff were excellent and very attentive. Very unusual. The dinners were good particularly considering options for dinner are few in town. Overall, we had a great time and will go back. The total cost per night per person including all of the surfing ended up being pretty...
Read moreI booked a one week surfari, but had to postpone at the last minute as my wide was in hospital. I called OLO (they can take a few days to reply to email) and they bumped me along one week, with no extra charge, no lost deposit. This was very cool of them.||||A local taxi driver collected me from the airport. If you are bringing surfboards with you, bring a soft rack and straps, as some taxis don’t have roof racks.||The accommodation is nice. The lounge area and patio is perfect. Views ideal. The apartments they have in the next building are also very nice. Staff are super friendly. Food is great… very healthy.||||The town is very authentic. There are signs that the town is growing, but the old town centre is the real thing: surf shops, cheap eats, and a fish restaurants. the locals are super friendly.||||Wifi was not always available at Olo, but a short walk and coffee and you can wifi in the square overlooking the beach.||||The surf was great. Olo overlooks the most perfect wave. The inside is great for learning, outside is bigger and breaks for a very long way, and is ideal for longboarders. Cathedral beach is bigger and faster.||||The surfari package is amazing. We were taken to famous point breaks in 3m swell, and got tubed on the nose for an eternity. We offroaded in the OLO 4wd, to remote beaches, and simply got the best waves available every day. Abdo (the guide) took us to great local spots for lunch, which is all part of the package. Euro 650 for one week with transfers, meals, private room, all my meals… great value.||||Summary: excellent, trip of a lifetime and I will return as soon...
