We Were Overcharged and Felt Scammed We stayed at Takojt for 17 nights, and while the place itself was nice, we were completely overcharged. Online, the advertised price for the room, including breakfast and dinner, was 25€ per person per night, which would have totaled around €1,300–€1,500 for our stay. Instead, we were charged an outrageous €3,000, more than double what it should have been. I’ve spent 10 months traveling in Morocco and have always had great experiences—until now. My friend and I trusted the staff, even though the total seemed unusually high, and unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. We asked the manager for an itemized breakdown of the charges, but despite promising to provide it, he never followed through, even after multiple follow-ups over several weeks. The manager claimed the price increase was due to renovations, but their website was never updated to reflect this, and we were not informed of any changes beforehand. After learning that the actual room rate was €40 per person per night, and assuming lunch was an extra €15 per person per day, our total should have been €1,700–€1,800. This still leaves a massive, unexplained overcharge of €1,200–€1,300. To put this into perspective, the €1,300 discrepancy could have covered 1.5 months of travel in Morocco on my usual budget. This lack of transparency and accountability left a bitter taste in our mouths and completely ruined what should have been a pleasant stay. If you’re considering staying here, I strongly urge you to confirm all costs upfront in writing to avoid being taken advantage of as we were. Edit: 05/06/25 On January 7th, I received a message from the owner admitting he had overcharged us (though he claimed it was "only" €500) and asked me to remove my reviews. I replied the next day, but despite multiple follow-ups, I’ve had no further response — it's now June and I've had to reach out again. He originally offered Revolut as a method of payment. Now, however, he is claiming he doesn't have Revolut and is using that as an excuse to avoid returning the money. Avoid this person and place at all costs. Other reviews also describe similar issues, suggesting this is not an isolated incident. We also had a staff member (the gardener) walk into our room late one morning when we were still sleeping which I found concerning. Very unprofessional staff - one drunken staff member always around. Not professional. TL;DR Owner takes advantage of kind people by charging double the advertised price. There's many places to stay in Merzouga and surroundings, I wouldn't recommend this one.

The Best!! - loved the setting, the cool and inviting pool with stunning views of the desert. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, our host Maborak was extremely helpful and generous. The meal were of the highest standard and the tours were all fantastic- the night in a luxury camp after a camel trek were unforgettable. Thank you - would highly recommend ❤️
