Okay first off - they ought to remove the word 'luxury" from this camp. There's nothing luxurious about it. Where on earth are they getting 4.5 stars?
We stayed in the "deluxe" location away from the main tents. There were 4 in total with glass windows out to the dunes - that's my 4 star rating. The carpets in the tent were loaded with sand and the outdoor furniture was so sun baked and damaged they fell apart - herein starts my 2 stars...
We decided to take a swim over at the main camp and decided bathtub water used by 10 people would have been cleaner. X-nay on that.
No ice - okay, so don't label yourself "luxury." They wouldn't turn the air conditioners on until 8pm - great, because that's when you need it most - not during the hot daytime hours but at 8pm when it cools down - again hardly "luxury"
Again who's writing these reviews and why can't people decipher what luxury means ? They do however charge "luxury" prices...ah... so that's where the...
Read moreGreat camp - beautifully situated at the Merzouga dunes. Loved this experience. There were other camps nearby but not too close. We went by camel and returned by car, which we would recommend. The staff was nice and the food was good. The camp is aesthetically nice (e.g., lights, swings, furniture). The rooms are nice and have USB chargers (we did not see any electrical outlets but could charge our phones). The only thing we really didn’t like was that the camp staff person who brought us by camel (organized through the camp) incredibly awkwardly tried to sell us little souvenirs when we got to the camp - I don’t spend a bunch of money to take your camp’s camel to then be awkwardly trapped to buy little tchotchkes. The transit to the camp by camel and back by car was 40 EUR per person, round trip. We’d recommend doing the camel ride in late afternoon / early evening so you can stop at the top of the dunes and...
Read moreAfter a fun 4x4 Land Cruiser off Roading trek through sand and stone pathways, this desert camp welcomes you with raised stone paths covered by carpets, scents of fresh incense and softly flickering lamps around the circle of tents. The harshness of the desert landscape contrasts nicely with the soft surroundings within your personal tent which has indoor plumbing, AC and hot water. At night, the skies are bedazzled with so many stars that it takes your breathe away. The staff are just as warm and smiling as the others we’ve encountered in Morocco. Pleased to see you and happy to share their stories and their homes. It’s a tough decision when watching sunrises and sunsets here : capture with a camera to try and show family at home or just breathe and take in the natural beauty of this...
