In early July 2023, I booked the Kashba Azalay for 2 nights as a stopover on my Morocco trip by motorcycle. For many, Merzouga is an attraction for many due to the Erg Chebbi and was the motive for a stay for this reason. I would like to notice in advance that I would definitely book the Kashba Azalay again. The whole property, apart from the town of Merzouga, radiates calm and seclusion, which is also sought in connection with the location. I would like to thank Youssef personally, who was my main contact from check-in to check-out. After the check-in, there was the welcome tea, which I would like to take on due to the herbing 46 degrees Celsius. My room was super class, big and clean. I didn't use the pool, but sun loungers are also available at the pool. I ate in the Kashba on both evenings and was very satisfied. If you e.g. Simply say a special request (e.g. vegetarian), a vegetarian tajine was gladly prepared. Breakfast is available as a buffet and there is nothing to be desired (please keep in mind, you travel Morocco - the served breakfast is customary in its components and everyone will cope with it). All in all a round stay, the proximity to the Erg Chebbi is huge, you are almost directly on the slopes to the dunes. As I have heard (by guests present), the Kashba Azalay also offers a desert camp, i.e. overnight stays in a tent in the dunes !!! Thanks also Youssef, for the motorcycle car park and the option to approach the...
Read moreThe Kasbah is a lovely hotel where you can enjoy the sanddunes, even if you are staying put at the swimmingpool. It is situated somewhat higher than other places and the swimmingpool and rooms are one level up, meaning you have views of the desert from the swimmingpool, from the terraces where you can eat and from your room (if you have a room with windows looking out at the desert). The room we had is very nicely decorated, has two windows looking out at the desert and the beds are very comfortable. The owners are descendants from bedouins and are a fountain of knowledge about the way of living in the Sahara. They and the staff are all very friendly and service oriented. The cameltrip through the sanddunes and the jeeptour to learn more about the way of living in the Sahara are heartily recommended!|Do not stay in a tentcamp! Those are shoulder to shoulder situated at the other side of the desert at the border of the sanddunes (not in it!) and were in our opinion a tourist trap with tasteless food and hot tents. You will have in a tentcamp a lesser view and feel of the desert than if you are staying at...
Read moreWe stayed for one night at Azalay. The rooms are nicely decorated and very large. The patio and hallways are very colorful and give a fresh atmosphere to the place. The pool was very nice to refresh ourselves in the desert sun, not to mention the views from the pool area are magnificent. A few negatives we noticed, the showers were ice cold and finding the place at night can be quite challenging, google maps directions aren’t very clear and the dark unpaved roads can be challenging in a small car. Dinner was too expensive for our taste so we ate in the center of Merzouga for a fraction of the cost, but from what others have said the dinner seems to be tasty. Breakfast buffet was just alright, but nothing special and not...
