We stayed one night here at Erg Chebbi Luxury Desert Camp as part of an Abercrombie & Kent private tour (we were two couples). We joined other folks in this 15-tent luxury accommodation. Included in our stay was private SUV transportation to and from the camp, then a group sunset camel ride, dinner, and breakfast the next morning. ||(There are a ton of luxury desert tented camps in the region, and it actually took us a bit of detective work to discover the right Tripadvisor listing for the camp we stayed at. Some of this might also be because the tents change frequently – during the hot summer months, as we understand it, the camps are closed up and then start up again in the fall, with variations presumably in the tent arrangement and décor changes.)||We had friends who warned up that tenting in the Sahara meant having a miserable hot night, and don’t even try to open the tent flaps for air because then you’ll get full of sand everywhere, too. Imagine our surprise when we walked into our tent and felt air-conditioned heaven and saw the lovely bathroom area with running (hot and cold) water. This is definitely “glamping” and we had a great time. Our bed was super comfortable, and the shower, for being in the desert, worked out quite well. We had a fair amount of wind that night, so the noise and flapping of the tent canvas was more exciting than alarming, and we then actually could make the argument that we were kinda sorta roughing it out in the desert. 😉 There is even some wifi, although you needed to be around by the dining tent to even have a shot of catching it properly. ||Dinner and breakfast were very good – you won’t leave hungry – and the included wine was surprisingly very good. Some of the staff did a light post-dinner traditional music performance that was fun and just the right length of time. It was unfortunately too windy for a bonfire that night, and conditions were a little too cloudy for the epic sunset viewing from the dunes that our camels made their way to, but the pre-dinner camel ride up to the dunes to watch the sunset was definitely the highlight of the trip! ||We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Erg Chebbi Luxury Desert Camp for your Sahara glamping...
Read moreAbsolutely best way to experience the Moroccan Sahara sand dunes. Rode camels into the desert to reach the camp, stopping atop the highest dunes to watch the sunset. Luxury tents were toasty warm, spacious, and comfortable. Bathrooms were spacious, clean, functional, and the hot showers were truly a luxury in the December temperatures. Dinner was the best Moroccan-French cuisine we had in Morocco and unexpectedly delightful in the desert. Berber music and dancing around the campfire to end the night. Desert skies are truly amazing with zillions of stars and constellations visible clearly. Woke up to catch the sunrise and a sumptuous breakfast. Rode the dune buggies for 2 hours zooming up and down the slopes to finish a memorable desert trip and arrive back at the village. A visit to Morocco is not complete until you experience the desert...

The dune experience is incredible! The camel ride, the sand boarding and dunes will be a memory our family has forever and worth the effort to get there and experience.
