The setting and room aesthetics at Le Pavillon du Golf - Palmeraie in Marrakech are beautiful â but unfortunately, thatâs where the positives end. Our experience was riddled with disorganisation, poor communication, and disappointing service, none of which aligns with what youâd expect from a â5-starâ resort.
We had written confirmation of early check-in but had to wait four hours to get into our room after a long flight. The hotel is under construction, so key facilities like the spa and fitness centre were completely unavailable. You have to go to another nearby hotel (Pickalbatos) to use a gym â not what you expect from a supposedly luxury resort.
The WiFi was unreliable and the in-room phone didnât work until we requested a replacement. We had to leave our room multiple times to follow up on simple requests like getting an ironing board or fresh towels.
Stray cats are everywhere â scavenging at breakfast, outside your room door, and even trying to sneak inside. Itâs not just unpleasant; itâs unhygienic.
The staff lacked initiative. Requests took hours. We were charged for items like water and tea at checkout without any notice throughout the stay â something as basic as water should be offered freely in the heat, especially at this price point.
No poolside food or drink service, noisy rooms (not soundproof), daily issues with deactivated room key cards, and confusion due to the language barrier made for a very tiring experience. Worse still, our laundry was taken by the hotel against our instructions, causing issues with the laundry company we had hired.
In the end, we were billed for services we didnât know were chargeable, and many of our concerns were met with indifference.
We visited Pickalbatos HĂŽtel Du Golf nearby and were genuinely disappointed we hadnât booked there instead. Much better organised and truly felt like a premium experience.
Would not recommend unless serious...
Read moreThe scenery and views from the room, the pool area, and the overall aesthetic of the hotel were truly beautiful â it had a lovely, authentic Moroccan feel. Unfortunately, almost everything else about our stay was disappointing.
There was a significant language barrier with staff, and although we had confirmed early check-in when booking, we ended up waiting nearly four hours for our room. The hotel only offers breakfast â there is no on-site restaurant for lunch or dinner. Thankfully, there are two restaurants within a 5-minute walk, but Iâd recommend making a reservation in advance, as nearby hotels also rely on them and they get busy.
The hotel is conveniently located just 15â20 minutes from the center of Marrakech, which was ideal for getting around. However, we experienced ongoing issues with the room key card not working and had to keep returning to reception to get it reactivated. No complimentary water bottles were provided during room cleaning â they were available but for an extra charge.
Service by the pool was non-existent. Over the course of a week, only twice did someone come out to ask if we needed anything. Basic customer service was severely lacking. Half of the hotel appeared to still be under construction, which was not mentioned beforehand.
Wi-Fi didnât work at the pool and was unreliable in the room. The TV also didnât function unless you logged into your own Netflix, Amazon Prime, or YouTube accounts.
There were a few positives: we forgot plug adapters, and a kind receptionist arranged for someone to bring us some. Also, our laundry was done free of charge â though this was a misunderstanding due to the language barrier, as we had arranged it through a third-party company and the hotel ended up handling it.
Overall, while the look and location of the hotel were great, the service and amenities did not live up to expectations. 2.5*...
Read moreI am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your hotel. Unfortunately, my family and I were compelled to leave the premises due to the unacceptable lack of cleanliness and the significant discrepancies between the property as advertised online and its actual condition.
This situation caused a major disruption to our holiday. Traveling with a baby, we were left with no choice but to waste valuable time and additional expense searching for alternative accommodation. Despite being offered different rooms, the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel, including the pool area, remained far below expectations.
We were equally disappointed by the reception area, which turned out to be a small room rather than a proper lobby. Furthermore, the response we received when raising our concerns was deeply unprofessional and offensive. Being asked sarcastically, âIs this your first time in Africa?â was both inappropriate and dismissive, leaving us feeling disrespected as guests.
What should have been a short and enjoyable trip to Marrakech was instead turned into a stressful and costly experience. We incurred unexpected expenses, including a new hotel booking and unnecessary taxi transfers, and we feel misled by the misleading online representation of your property.
No compensation and no compromise...
