There are not that many midrange hotels to choose between in Bago and I think Hotel Mariner probably is the best choice. The hotel is new, it opened in 2013. I stayed in a standard room. Big enough, clean, with AC and a lovely view of the Shwemawdaw Paya. Typical Myanmar bathroom with the shower in the middle of the bathroom. Yes, the floor gets wet.||Wifi is included but terribly slow even if you go to the reception. No surprise in Myanmar.||||The location is really good. Just a few hundred meters walk from Shwemawdaw Paya. When you walk to the pagoda you will find a restaurant on the left hand side which is popular with young burmese. Not many restaurants in the area apart from this one.||||Ok service in the reception. They can arrange bustickets for you. The breakfast was very basic. The first look of the hotel is actually not that good. The reception looks more like a small travel agency and the elevator was dirty. I must say they neglect doing maintenance in this hotel. Although the hotel is only 1,5 years old it´s already getting a bit worn out. This is no problem now but in five years it will for sure.||||However, if I compare Hotel Mariner to other hotels in Bago that I can find on the webb I don´t think you are able to find a better midrange hotel in Bago right now. Lets just hope they will do better with the maintenance of the hotel and it will stay as the...

Read moreYes indeed, location = perfect...ask for a room with view of the main pagoda!, service = very friendly even if some of them have difficulty understanding English! Our room was very spacious and had everything that one expects from a standard room. The price of thirty five dollars was very fair. Oh ...one other thing....just across the road on way to pagoda there is a little stall that sells the best banana cake in the whole of...
