The Royal Kamudra Hotel is a three star hotel situated in the hotel zone of the capital city of Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw. It was one of the first hotels to be built in the hotel zone and stands in approximately an estimated 18 acres of park-like grounds. The hotel consists of stand alone villas and some suites with a central reception area scattered throughout the grounds. The hotel operates electric "golf" carts to transport guests around the grounds and to and from the reception area. Just call reception and one is present within minutes.||||The capital has several area zoned for specific commercial activity such as banking and hotels. As is common with other hotels in the zone it is not possible to walk from the hotel to shopping centres or restaurants. While the Royal Kamudra Hotel offers dining facilities and a small bar it is a short ride away by taxi - motor vehicle or motor bike - to facilities outside the hotel zone. The very western shopping centre - Junction Centre - is a couple of minutes ride away by taxi. The hotel offers a hire car service for a very reasonable 15000 Kyats per hour.||||Food served in the dining room is tasty with prices ranging from 2000 to 6000 Kyat per main course. While western food is available at breakfast the buffet is orientated towards Asian cuisine.||||In the grounds of the hotel is the Lilawadee Spa which is open from 10.00am until midnight. The spa offers traditional Thai massages as well as other relaxing services. A traditional Thai massage costs around 25000 Kyat plus tips.||||Rooms in the villas are spacious and clean with separate toilet and shower. A complete range of amenities are provided in the bathroom. Our villa had two verandas - one at the front and one at the back. During the evening staff visit the rooms to spray them with an insecticide deadly to mosquitoes but we did not find them a problem. A nice touch though. Some of the villas overlook the swimming pool while others are nearer to the reception area.||||Bottled water and tea and coffe are provide in the room free of charge. Free wifi is available and for those without a computer the office staff permit the use of an office computer without cost.||||During our stay at the hotel it seems that the hotel guests were mainly business people - some from foreign embassies and others from foreign companies. There seemed to be very few tourists present but that is understandable given that Nay Pyi Taw is the centre of government and is yet to be recognised as a tourist destination.||||The hotel accepts payment in Kyat as well as US dollars but at an exchange rate less than that which can be obtained from a bank.||||The hotel is not only able to provide support for the business guest but provides a relaxing environment for the tourist.||||The real asset of the hotel is its staff. They are friendly, efficient, anxious to please and are extremely knowledgeable in attending to queries. If they do not know they will find out for you.||||Would we stay at this hotel again. Too...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel-resort two times. First trip was for 2-3 nights and I somewhat liked it as it was my first visit to Nay Pye Taw, so everything was nice to me, blistering heat, mosquito, poor breakfast and non-functional airconditioner in the best room of the hotel. I was staying at 'Bagan' (name of the villa). I didnt complain, but informed the management that we are coming back with a big team and for several weeks program, and also to repair the AC.||We did come back, took total 10 rooms including 'Bagan'. AC was as usual even though the front desk told they repaired it. But the staffs were not cooperative. Front desk staffs behaviour borders to rudeness. Our plan was to open our temporary office their and book rooms for extended period as we were setting up a Myanmar-wide instrumentation network for monitoring some natural phenomena related to natural disaster. We requested hotel frontdesk to allow to keep our few (12) empty plastic water tanks (500 lit) for few days before shifting these to remote sites. I was told they dnt have space. I requested to see their manager, I was told that he/she was busy in meeting. I left a message at the frontdesk to ask the manager or whoever in charge to see me, but to result. Finally, when the truck with tanks arrived from Yangon, and my final request was flatly denied, we had to look for other solution. After a 3 hours search, I found that every hotel agreed to store the tanks temporarily. Finally I discovered the very next door hotel which opened their heart and space to us with a very warm welcome. Their General Manager came and took to on her car around to show their property and other hotels, called her Chief Engineer with an instruction to find a place to store the tanks and we shifted...It saved the spirit of our team from a bitterness to that of warmth.||What a damage a poor management can do to an otherwise beautiful...
Read moreI have been traveling to Naypyidaw quiet often due to work and been staying in almost all of different hotel, rating from five stars such as Hilton, Park Royal and to fewer stars such as Junction, Golden Guest, Mya Nan Yon, etc etc ||But so far the worst experience I have is with Hotel Max, Naypyidaw. ||It was booked through one of the UN agencies as we are holding a conference in the main Hall here at Max. ||But since last night checked in, they have messed up my booking, which I specifically asked for none smoking room with king size bed. The receptionist Thiha Oo, not only didn’t fulfill his duty, far fetch from going beyond services concept, did not even have a minimum pleasant receptionist manner. ||Today, after a tired day from meeting, I tried to ordered room services and again the phone is not working and they dare to claimed themselves a five stars, shame on you Max. ||Again it is now, already 11:30 pm and a group of burmese, seemed like guest are shouting very loudly at the wing lobby near my room. ||I tried to complaint with phone but is not working, (surprise, surprise) is it strange that with this volume of drunken noise shouting by a group of men but still hotel management appeared to be negligence and not taking any action nor talk to them. ||Moreover they have a receptionist also at the wing’s lobby which is also a Spa Branch. ||But with experiences from the check in, front desk staff, Thiha Oo and also some staff from restaurant's with very poor services mindset and disrespect attitudes, this kind of crappy services are to be expected. ||Have stayed in most hotels in Naypyidaw and so far Max is the worst. ||Highly not...
