We stayed at this beautiful, family run bed and breakfast for 10 nights in December 2019. It is small and quiet, giving you peace and privacy. Owners live on site and speak fluent English. They are very kind, attentive and accommodate guests’ requests without any hesitation.
Dining tables are laid out in the front garden under the trees. If you love animals, you will love their little squirrel and two well behaved big dogs (a young husky and a senior alsatian). The front and back yard are small but at least you can stretch your legs. There is a small pond at the back.
Breakfast is good and you can also order food for dinner if you don’t want to go out. We loved tomato salad, avocado salad, and vegetable dishes. The Shan noodle breakfast restaurant nearby serves good alternatives.
There are small local shops within 3 minutes walk if you need anything. The world’s largest book (Kuthodaw Pagoda), the golden palace monastery (Shwe Nandaw Kyaung) and Mandalay Hill are only 5- 10 minutes away by Oway taxi (3 wheeled Tok Tok). The famous monastic school, Phaung Daw Oo Kyaung, is only about 10 minutes walk away.
The rooms are clean, mattress and pillows top quality and the internet speed FAST! I was able to make long calls to the UK without any problems.
The staff are helpful but can do better with some more training.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience there very much and am thankful to Su and Nyein for the good service, attention, and peace and quiet their place offered. I will highly recommend it to anyone who prefers a nice quiet homely place with good service at a...
Read moreAfter staying here (and enjoying it) already back in 2015 it was an obvious choice for us to return now when revisiting Mandalay with a little more time. The family and staff are all very friendly and attentive, the breakfast is great and the pancake supply for our little son seemed endless! We had dinner "at home" all evenings as it is a nice atmosphere in the garden, the food is great and of course it is most convenient. You will need to place your order about an hour in advance, as everything is prepared fresh. For us this was ideal: order upon returning from a day trip, get dinner after a good shower and some time to relax. They do your laundry for reasonable prices (Myanmar is not Thailand in this respect - no laundry shop at every corner) and with great care and overall we had a very good time! The location is ideal to avoid the busy center of town or e.g. to go on a day trip to Pyin-oo-Lwin (recommended!). Thanks for letting us stay late on our...
Read moreAwesome place and highly recommended. Learned from a fellow traveller that this place has been featured in magazine articles as well.
It is a bit further from the city center compared to other places but after staying here for two nights, I prefer it this way. You don't have to worry about the crazy downtown traffic or awful smell from the dust and car smog. A taxi cost us 3,000 Kyat to the center one way.
If the day is cool it's an easy 30-40 minute walk to the base of Mandalay Hill. On the way are three attractions/pagodas to stop and see. There's other things to see in the area as well so don't worry about being a little further out. Also, your about a 10-15 minute walk to the palace wall.
The hotel has a restaurant downstairs with good prices and the beer is only 2,000 Kyat for a big bottle (650ml).
I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Mandalay. If I hadn't already bought my airline ticket out of Myanmar I'd...
