A friend and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a lovely time. We booked one of the double bungalows, which was very spacious, with AC (which we didn't end up needing), fridge, complimentary water and tea bags, and bathroom slippers. We were conveniently a few steps away from the breakfast room. They served European style breakfast - eggs, toast (as others mention, very nice, thick and fluffy bread), butter, jam, juice, tea or coffee, and two kinds of fruit. ||||The room was a bit dimly lit and felt a little damp, but it was very clean, with plenty of room to leave your luggage. The bathroom had been recently refurbished with new paint and tiles, and the hot water was great - probably the hottest water we experienced in all of Myanmar. ||||The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They helped us rent bikes from a nearby shop, and when it turned out they were too high for us, the staff went back and changed them at no extra cost. Then, while we were riding, my friend's bicycle seat bent downward and would not stay up, no matter how many times she straightened it. In the end, a sand painting artist we met on the road helped us call the shop and arrange for someone to take back the bikes. We had paid the hotel for the bikes, so the shop asked us to get a refund from the hotel (which turned out to be incorrect advice). So when we got back, the hotel staff went to all the trouble to arrange a refund for us from the shop. It was incredibly kind of them all. Unrelated to that, one of the staff even treated me to a betel nut from a stall nextdoor!||||The single setback was the almost nonexistent wifi - it only worked very early in the morning, if you sit outside right under the router. But when we weren't able to confirm our flight online, the staff helped us confirm by phone, and arrange a cab to the airport (8000K).||||Other reviewers mention a scarcity of places to eat but we didn't really have an issue with that. There were several restaurants within walking distance (we went to one of them), but after the bikes didn't work out, we hired a driver (30 USD for 1.5 days of pagoda exploration), who also helped us get to lunch and dinner places.||||The last morning we spent some quiet time in the lovely garden outside the hotel. You can also go up the stairs of one of the buildings for a high-up view of houses in the vicinity.||||In short, great stay. I strongly...
Read moreLovely Myanmar establishment with friendly, attentive service. The cottages are spacious, clean and very comfortable with A/C. They are serviced daily. Bathrooms are typical Asian - open plan combined toilet and shower - but that was expected so everyone coped easily. :) Wifi is hit or miss. Though, we thought reception was strongest at the reception. Breakfast in the breakfast hall was included in the price, and it was delicious! The staff were lovely - one morning, we were leaving for an early trip and they packed our breakfasts for us. It's well-located with many places to eat in the area, along with bike, electric bike and motor cycle rentals. We suggest the electric bikes - so much fun! :) We traveled as a group of 10 Americans and Australians, and overall, were happy with the service. Bagan was a wonderful experience for us: We saw the best of the temples. Had memorable sunrises and sunsets. Went on a boat ride. Visited local feasts and celebrations. Another time, we spent half a day at a Village where we learned about traditional village life, and taught English at the school. ||||P.S: I am writing this review quickly. Please excuse any typographical errors. :) I further note that I am currently studying Dutch intensively, which is completely ruining my...
Read moreThe pictures for this place are not up to date. It is much nicer than the photos show. Conveniently located close to the heart of Bagan restaurants. Five minute walk to most. The staff is obsequiously nice and extremely attentive! Every time I walked on the grounds, three people would stand up ready to serve me.||The hotel had all kinds of nice little touches like toothbrush/paste in the bathroom, hair dryer, brush, comb. The rooms were exceptionally clean. ||They were able to arrange all of my travel needs: a ferry trip to Mandalay and the early morning taxi to the dock. ||This hotel offered the highest level service I can imagine from any hotel and all the comforts I needed. I got food poinsoning one day and can't imagne a more pleasnt place to sleep it through. They took really good care of me...
