Ocean Blue Beach Hotel — Hotel in Pathein

Arrived this morning 25th April and found that the beach front rooms had no electricity until 1 pm. The rooms was booked at a 5% discount before coming here from Ygn. We did not like the rooms location so we asked if we could get a beach front villa and we would pay the added cost. But they refused and told us we have to keep the rooms and if we wanted the beach front villas we would have to pay extra the full price for each villa . We wanted the villas because they had 24 hrs Electricity. ||Having no air condition continuously on 24 hrs basis was pure hell for us... The daily high was 41 to 42C. ||Any how we accepted as we had already paid for the rooms.||Later on they relented and gave us two rooms at the rate of 38000 Ks (about) for each room paid extra....||If they accepted that why could not we get the the villas which we were willing to pay the difference?!!||The Logic in this matter is beyond me!!!! ||And nx morning we had a buffet breakfast and it was terrible.... ||The sausages were over done and the fries were bad ... And the local coconut & chicken soup noodles... were tasteless and hardly with any chicken in it. ||I could go on with a long litany of complaints...||The staff were good ... But no experience and try ordering a cup of Nescafé and see what you get... ||And they should learn to smile.. relentlessly....||And lastly not least why are prices i.e. Room rates so high? ||Perhaps they are trying to go out of business..... ? || ||the rooms were not bad if they ran the electricity 24/7... Which I feel is no excuse with the price of diesel at 450 ks ||No beach safety observers... No arrangement for S & R. ||The swimming pool was ok but too small and again no safety observers. ||||I hope conditions improve but this is the last time that I will ever use this hotel||||I do not like to be...

PROS: The room was very clean, and spacious. I didn't have any problems with that at all, although the electricity is only on 6pm until 6am, and then between 1-3pm. This is the same for all of Ngwe Saung hotels, but still irritating nonetheless. I let the staff know that my phone had died and that I very quickly needed to call home because of a personal situation - they wanted me to pay 10,000, which was also irritating. The pool was clean, although there weren't any sun beds to really lie on.||||CONS: I ordered a breakfast plate which consisted of very oily vegetables, an egg, chicken sausages, and two thick slices of fat that was apparently bacon. During my stay I also ordered two cappuccinos which were lukewarm - like they'd been left out a while. Breakfast wasn't great either - I was honestly expecting slightly better after paying $75. Staff didn't really seem to understand English, and would just nod very awkwardly when asked a question. ||||Location - the hotel is located right at the end of the beach, quite far from the more lively areas. Took a 10 minute motorcycle taxi back and forth everyday.||||I've stayed in better hotels for half the price, was disappointed, and will definitely not be...

All staffs are friendly and accommodating... When we came the room given to us was different from the photo (we were assigned in 2nd floor but in the photo, it was in ground floor).. after complaining, they move us to ground floor.|| For 100usd per night, electricity is only for 6am-6pm &1-3pm.. but for that price, you can get 24hrs electricity from other hotel. We noticed there's a room with 24hrs electricity, so we just request to move and just pay more, and allowed us to move, with an earlier time.||Breakfast food is not that great (I mean for the price we paid), in other hotel, we can get more and better quality. Other amenities is also broken..like the bath tub, vault, blow-dry...||The room is spacious and our room is just near the beach (which I really love from this hotel)..but if it can get that from other hotel, better try...
