To get to Regina Hotel and Golf Club (It also has a Casino in the Hotel) you can fly to Chiang Rai and if you have made a booking in advace with Regina, you can organise a Mini bus to ||take you from the Hotel, across the border direct to Regina.||If you haven't prebooked, then, there is an office in the airport or over in Mae Sai where you can book and get the same mini bus service. Cost is around 1500 Baht for the 45 Minute trip to the border crossing.||If you want to do it on your own, you can cross the border and take one of the Tuks Tuks from the Myanmar side of the border to Regina - They all know where it is - Its abouut 100 Baht for the Tuk Tuk as it is close handy to the border.||I travel often to the northern part of Thailand and across the border into Tachileik (North of Chiang Rai where the sister town of Mae Sai sits). I find the border crossing very easy by passing through the Thai Immigration, crossing over to the other side of the road halfway across the bridge and then passing over my Passport to Myanmar Immigration, paying 500 Baht (Around USD17) and they issue me a 14 day Visa to enter the area. They do hold your passport at the border control which you pick up at Myanmar Immigration on the opposite side of the road when you leave Tachileik to go back to Mae Sai.||I have been there a number of times now and never had an issue picking up the passport.||Regina Hotel has a range of rooms and they are large, with King size beds, and are well appointed with ensuites and very clean.||I found the service very good, the staff smiling and helpful. The food from the restaurant was excellent and if you like a bit of a gamble, there are lots of slot machines and table games to keep you amused.||In the summer months, there is a beer garden across the road that is very good and part of that complex is a Japanese restaurant that cooks from live seafood taken from the tanks that are part of the complex.||The Golf Club seemed to be of good standard although I'm yet to play a round there.||I noticed that they seem to be always cleaning and the place was immaculate.||It is easy to get around Tachileik either via one of the Hotel buses or cars or from the Tuk Tuks located at the entrance to the Hotel complex. The shopping is much cheaper on the Myanmar side of the border.||There is a Day Spa located between the main building and the Hotel rooms which looked to be of a high standard.||Cost of the rooms from memory were from around 2500 Baht to about 3750 for the VIP rooms.||I do recommend a stay there at Regina if you are travelling...
Read moreRegina Hotel is perhaps the best hotel available in Tachileik. It occupies a huge piece of land and it also has a golf club there. In Regina Hotel, you can find a very decent casino and slot machines parlours and there are also a couple of very excellent F&B outlets located there. Go and try it out......do not expect the 5 star international hotel standards but it is certainly the best available in a small town...
