I wanted to get rice soup for breakfast and they said I couldn't get one because they'd prepared buffet breakfast (that couldn't eat). . . They said the kitchen couldn't prepare anything new during buffet hours . .even if I pay for it, they said I couldn't get soup .Funny . . . . . They charge early check-in and late check-out as half day price, even if it was one or two hours. .. Read moreThe location of this hotel is its best feature. It sits on top of a hill that has great views of the city and beyond. Everything else is of average quality. There are several issues with the room. While it was quite big, it was difficult to keep warm during the night even with the heat on. It needed better insulation. The bathroom had no separate shower area, so when you took a shower, the whole place got wet. Service was anything but good. There was no receptionist when I arrived at the hotel. Read moreThis hotel was brand new when I stayed here and they didn't have everything worked out yet. The rooms are clean and modern, there is plenty of hot water, and staff are friendly. Guests get a hearty Western or Asian option for breakfast, plus a choice of fruit, juice and tea or coffee. The hotel has the best view in Kalaw, and it's nice to be above the hussle of the town. Little tweaks that are needed are more blankets in the room (we were there in Jan and we were a tad cold), and better wifi. There was a connection in the lobby, but none in our room.
