When I first came to the „full moon guesthouse“ I met the very kind and understanding owner. Even though the Corona restrictions had already been in place he could accept me as a guest. I got a basic room for a really fair, special prize. As I had to stay for a long time due to the „COVID-19“ circumstances I became friends with the owner. He allowed me to use their fridge and the kitchen to cook my own meals. The breakfast was rich and especially the pancakes were extremely tasty! Breakfast time was also flexible. Unfortunately the service generally became an issue and caused frustrations! I needed to ask for everything that I needed (towels, cleaning the room, refilling drinking water,....) Even though I kindly enquired for something the staff did not act. It needed a few attempts until they helped out. The way they cared about hygiene was alerting too. Bathroom looked more or less the same after they „cleaned“ them. The dining area was also constantly dirty. Another concern was the noise (people talking loudly, staff playing music, long lasting prayers from the nearby monastery), especially early in the morning. This can be usual in those areas of the world. It just made up the whole level of frustration the longer I stayed. During the cold or rainy season the construction of the guesthouse may be a little unfortunate. The building is very exposed to the weather despite roofed areas. The wind blows through the sitting / dining areas and kitchen. Floors, cooking areas as well as kitchen surfaces get really wet if it rains. Again it may take time and enquiries until the staff cleans up those „puddles“. Overall I am very thankful and appreciate that they could accomodate me! I wish that they are offering better services when they are fully opened. It seems like it would need some training...
Read moreMost people just get off at Kalaw and take off for the Inle Lake hike and that is a mistake. Kalaw has a lot to offer and I stayed at this lovely Full Moon Guesthouse for three nights in a Single Room at a throwaway price. The room had adequate furniture, hair dryer, toilet, hot kettle and tea bags and coffee mix, the shower had real hot water at all time of the day or night. Wifi is weak in the room but strong downstairs in front of reception. The staff do not speak much English but that isn't a hindrance as they serve with smile. Breakfast, included in the room price, was more than adequate and filling with ample selection of local and continental. There's parking and it is very close to the main road and the famous...
Read moreThe only pro for the guest house was rooms are quite spacious. Other than that, nah.... One of the room was very cold since the wind is going into the rooms. Not very clean towels and bed sheets, can visually able to see the stains. Towels are rough to use them on ur face. No shower cap provided. When we came into the room, the toothbrushes are inside the rubbish bin and we have to request new from reception. No phone line, need to walk down the stairs to contact anyone at the reception. There is no lift, very uncomfortable for the old people. Favor is too biased towards foreigners, can be recognized from the way the staffs conversed at the dining room. We really had an unpleasant stay. Not...
