Subject: Serious Complaint Regarding Misconduct by Opera Hotel Van Driver – Mahendranagar, Nepal

I want to bring to your attention a disturbing incident that took place during my recent visit to Mahendranagar, Nepal.

My friends and I were at the gate of Opera Hotel, preparing to check in, when a hotel van (used for guest pick-up and drop-off from Dhangadi Airport) suddenly hit us lightly from behind. The area was noisy, and the driver didn’t even bother to honk. While the impact was not severe, it was a clear act of carelessness.

Out of concern, I politely told the driver that he should have used the horn — especially considering the potential risk if a child or elderly person had been walking in that spot. Instead of acknowledging this valid concern, the driver began mocking and teasing me. His behavior quickly escalated into open disrespect, and shockingly, he even attempted to get physical.

What was most upsetting is that the way we were treated seemed directly related to the fact that we were Indians. It was not just unprofessional — it felt discriminatory.

This single incident has completely changed my perception. I had always respected the people of Nepal for their hospitality and humility, but this experience was nothing short of traumatic and disappointing.

I strongly urge the hotel management and concerned authorities to take this matter seriously. Such behavior can ruin the image of Nepal as a tourist-friendly destination. The latter part of the incident was recorded on video and can be reviewed to verify the facts.

Tourists come to Nepal for peace and warmth — not to face hostility and danger from those meant to...

🌟 Excellent Experience at Opera Hotel, Mahendranagar, Nepal 🌟

I have been visiting Opera Hotel, Mahendranagar, Nepal since 2016, and every time I stay here, the experience only gets better. The hotel has maintained its warm hospitality, cleanliness, and great service consistently over the years.

A special mention to Mahesh Sir at the reception — he has always been extremely polite, professional, and welcoming. His friendly smile and helpful attitude make every guest feel comfortable and valued. He truly represents the spirit of Opera Hotel’s excellent service.

The staff are equally wonderful — kind, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make guests happy. The food here is another highlight — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every dish tastes amazing and feels like home-cooked Nepali goodness.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, creating a peaceful environment for rest and relaxation. The entire property reflects care, dedication, and attention to detail.

I’m genuinely thankful to Mahesh Sir and the entire Opera Hotel team for their consistent hospitality over the years. Opera Hotel truly feels like a second home in Mahendranagar. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the beautiful Far...

Service was outstanding, location perfect to wonder around, all the staffs were very tentative and food was superb but let down by the condition of the room, room allocated was quite big but very outdated, toilet was totally unacceptable as toilet had such bad yellow stain and did not flush properly, hot water had such a low pressure that we could not have shower. Staffs politely offered next room but had exactly same and finally moved one floor down which was lot better (do not know why we were not offered that room on the 2nd attempt). Had a hot shower but it lasted for 3 mins and had to have cold shower, definitely pressure issue.

In my judgement people allocated based on the colour and nationality but whether you are white, black, yellow, red or pink or any nationality everyone must be treated equally as they have paid for the hotel but not being who they are. I can guarantee Nepali culture has changed, they go on holiday, few holidays but they have no budget where foreigners come to Nepal with very tight budget and they will not go a penny above, my two penny advise.

Would I stay in this hotel, YES I would but I will check the room before agreeing to take the room. Had a pleasant...

Hotel Opera offers a charming and elegant atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a blend of classic style and modern amenities. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and tasteful decor. The staff is attentive and courteous, ensuring a pleasant stay. Guests particularly enjoy the convenient location, which is close to cultural attractions, restaurants, and public transport. While the hotel exudes a boutique feel, some may find the rooms on the smaller side. Overall, it’s a great choice for travelers looking for comfort and accessibility in a refined setting
