I had a disappointing experience at this hotel, especially considering it was booked through their official website from abroad. I made a 2-day reservation using Exely (a service that reserves and later charges my U.S.-based credit card). The policy clearly stated that if I didn’t check in, they would charge for 1 night. I did check in, confirmed with front desk that I could pay for my stay via Exely, and was told it would cover the room, not food — which I was fine with.
However, during checkout, I was suddenly told they do not accept Exely at all — contradicting both their website and what their own staff said at check-in. This left me scrambling to get money from someone else in Nepal to pay, which is not easy or acceptable for a foreign visitor. It feels like they are avoiding Exely to dodge its processing fees, putting tourists in a tough spot last minute. It might not be illegal, but it’s definitely unethical and misleading.
On top of this, the hotel service was below standard. Despite complaining twice about the TV not working, nothing was done the first day. I also requested room cleaning and even handed over my room key to the front desk — but when I returned in the evening, nothing had been done. After repeated complaints on Day 2, the TV was finally fixed and the room was cleaned, but towels were just folded — not replaced. Even budget hotels do better in terms of hygiene and responsiveness.
I expected a lot more professionalism, especially from a hotel that claims to be on the higher end in Birtamod. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to international travelers unless they clearly fix their payment policies, staff communication, and basic service standards.

Dear Mr. Khatri and the Siddhartha Hotel Team,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review. I appreciate the apology and the effort to address some of my concerns; however, I want to clarify key points that your reply did not properly acknowledge:
Misrepresentation of Exely Acceptance: At check-in, your front desk explicitly assured me that Exely would be honored for the room charges. Had they been transparent from the start that Exely was not supported, I would have chosen not to stay, as I do not carry alternative payment methods while traveling. It feels misleading to advertise Exely on your website and confirm it at check-in, only to reject it at checkout.
Charging the Card Was Clearly Possible: Your policies and staff both confirmed the possibility of charging my card in case of no-show—hence, the system to charge the card does exist. This highlights that the refusal to accept Exely at checkout is more about avoiding processing fees than the inability to process a transaction. If you truly do not support Exely, please remove it from your website and booking channels to avoid misleading guests in the future.
Double-Charge Claim: I never stated I was charged twice. The real issue is that I was forced into an uncomfortable, last-minute scramble to arrange payment in Nepal—something neither ethical nor fair to foreign travelers who rely on credit cards for ease and security.
Service Shortfalls: While I appreciate your apology regarding the TV repair and housekeeping issues, the fact remains that these concerns required repeated follow-ups before being addressed. I hope you will prioritize improvements in responsiveness and cleanliness going forward.
I value transparency and consistency, and unfortunately, my experience at Siddhartha Hotel did not reflect that. I encourage your team to remove any mention of Exely if you will not accept it, train your staff to provide consistent information, and uphold your promises at check-in. By doing so, you can genuinely improve the guest experience rather than putting visitors in difficult situations at the last...
