Terrible Experience – Please Don’t Stay at Hotel Manaki, Janakpur

This is honestly one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at in my life. The service was really bad, and the staff treated guests very poorly. They were rude and didn’t seem to care at all about hospitality.

We agreed on a room price when I arrived, but when it was time to pay, they suddenly increased the price without giving any reason. On top of that, even though they had a PhonePe QR code displayed at the reception, they refused to accept payment through it. They forced me to pay in cash, which felt like a trick.

Overall, the whole experience felt very stressful and disrespectful. I felt completely harassed during my stay.

I've stayed three times at Manaki Hotel during short (1-3 day) work trips. The Maithili art at the entrance and lobby are the best aspects of the hotel. The rooms are sufficient, and since they repainted the inside of the hotel recently, much nicer than they used to be. However, the lighting and general ambience of the place leaves much to be desired. Hallways can be dark, and while I have never feel unsafe, others I've traveled with have. I've now had more than 10 meals in Mananki, and the food leaves much to be desired. Problems vary, from undercooked dry peas to weevils in the rice. Generally, there seems to be a lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction. There are few options for lodging in Janakpur, and Manaki is absolutely sufficient (if not good value for money) for...
