Title: Disappointing Experience – Be Cautious About Hidden Charges and Misleading Information
I recently stayed at Chitwan Green Park Hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Despite the hotel’s appealing appearance and seemingly good reviews, there were several serious issues that completely overshadowed my stay.
Misleading Pricing and Overcharging: Before checking in, I called the front desk to confirm the price. We agreed on a specific rate, which I confirmed clearly over the phone. However, when it was time to check out, I was shocked to find the price had changed. The final bill was significantly higher than what was agreed upon. When I brought this up with the staff, they were evasive and offered no reasonable explanation. This kind of behavior felt dishonest and manipulative.
Additionally, we ordered food during our stay, and again, the pricing on the bill did not match the menu prices or what we were initially told. We were overcharged, and the staff was unhelpful when we questioned it. This felt like a pattern, not just a mistake. It’s important to be very cautious here — always get everything in writing and double-check every bill.
Room Cleanliness and Comfort: At first glance, the rooms appeared clean, but once we settled in, we noticed several cockroaches. This was extremely off-putting and unacceptable for a hotel that markets itself as a high-standard establishment. Furthermore, the bed was quite uncomfortable, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. For the price they charge, you would expect basic cleanliness and comfort — sadly, both were lacking.
Food Quality: The food was another major letdown. It was bland and lacked any real flavor or freshness. We tried a few items from the menu, hoping it would improve, but everything tasted the same: dull and uninspired. It felt like they were just going through the motions, with no attention to quality or customer satisfaction.
Overall Impression: I have traveled extensively around the world and stayed in a wide range of hotels — from budget to luxury — and I have rarely encountered this level of dishonesty and poor service. Chitwan Green Park may have a decent appearance on the outside, but beneath the surface, it’s a place that misleads its guests, overcharges them, and fails to deliver on even the most basic hospitality standards.
Final Verdict: This hotel is not worth the money, and I would not recommend it to other travelers. There are many better, more honest places to stay in Chitwan. Be very cautious if you do decide to book here — always confirm everything in writing, and don’t expect much in terms of comfort, cleanliness, or...
Read moreA Mixed Bag Our recent stay at Hotel Green Park in Chitwan presented a mixed experience. Positives: Comfortable Rooms: The rooms were spacious and well-appointed with comfortable beds and effective temperature control. The balconies offered lovely views, especially in the morning. Reliable Internet: The internet connection was consistently fast and reliable, which was greatly appreciated. Good Breakfast: The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of healthy and delicious options. Areas for Improvement: Dinner Buffet: While the dinner buffet was initially promising, the options were limited, and the food ran out frequently. The staff was slow to replenish dishes, which was a significant disappointment. Additionally, the "authentic Nepali dishes" lacked the expected depth of flavor and were surprisingly devoid of any curries. We strongly advise future guests to explore other traditional restaurants in Chitwan, which likely offer better value and a more authentic culinary experience. Tharu Cultural Show: The in-house Tharu cultural show, priced at NPR 6000, fell short of expectations. The performance lacked female dancers and was considerably shorter than anticipated. Guests were also subtly pressured to tip the performers, which detracted from the experience. We recommend exploring other, more authentic Tharu cultural shows in the area, which are reportedly available for a much lower cost (around NPR 50 per person). Inconsistent Pricing: We experienced significant inconsistencies in pricing, particularly with the wine. We were initially quoted NPR 3200 for a bottle of red wine but were later charged NPR 4800, which is unacceptable and unprofessional. Overall: While our stay at Hotel Green Park offered some positive aspects, the shortcomings in the dinner buffet, the cultural show, and the inconsistent pricing significantly impacted our overall experience. We believe that with some improvements in these areas, the hotel could significantly enhance its guest satisfaction. Tips for Future Guests: Dinner: Explore local restaurants for a more authentic and potentially more cost-effective dining experience. Cultural Show: Inquire about and consider attending other, more authentic Tharu cultural shows available in Chitwan. Pricing: Clearly confirm prices for all items before ordering, especially for...
Read moreThe ground is super clean! The premise is surrounded by green bushes and flowers! The room is cabin-type with rustic decor and modern amenities in the bathroom. The resort package included a daily tour and cultural performance program at night. Guests were invited to dance with them at the end of the performance! This is an all-inclusive resort with buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, except for alcoholic drinks. The food is delicious with varieties, and they kept refilling despite there being a few guests during the low season. Their cocktails in the bar are really good and very generous with alcohol, especially my Malito and Pina Colada! The white wine is alright but not cold enough. The day tours are wonderful for exploring the National Park! It was well-organized with a driver and an English tour guide, who specially brought us back around noon and resumed the program at 3 pm to avoid the heat (82 degrees F) so guests could swim or take a nap. We stayed for 2 nights. The resort is not located in the city center, which is good for us sleeping quietly after a long day and being away from crowds and pubs. The resort offers shuttle transport to the airport. The only drawback is that the electricity (air-conditioning) shuts down for 2 to 5 minutes every night, once or twice. The manager gave us a heads-up upon check-in because of their electricity system, and they are working on improving this issue. The staff were excellent and lent us an umbrella (from the sun's heat) and bug lotion! Our own bug spray was too mild, and we got many mosquito bites; their local tip was to use their lotion, which worked, and we had no more bites. The lobby is a bit warm because it's an open-air lobby with...
