Bardiya Forest Hideaway Resort in Thakurdwara, Nepal is a brilliant combination of the old and the new; with a touch of modernity and rustic ambience. Itâs just a 6 hour road trip from Lucknow and every time, this place never ceases to amaze me. I keep coming back time and again. Why? Well, for one, itâs rooms are spacious. Also, youâve got a choice between mud thatched cottages and brick cottages. Interestingly, cottages are named after animals like deer, monkey, kingfisher, etc. The walls display hand made flora and fauna of this region. Amenities within the cottage itself are modern yet not sophisticated.
Secondly, you get the feel and charm of being in the village with sounds of varied birds right from dawn to dusk. This place has its own melody! Hammocks are laid out for you to practice your own zen way of life. The property itself is bright and vibrant with a variety of flowers all across. Add to this freshly cooked meals (as per your choice) and mint tea. A good home cooked meal and a peaceful siesta are what you can expect. Lastly, to burn those extra calories, and for adventure, the resort helps you plan your itinerary. The walk-in safari is a must if you want to experience nature in all its glory. A special mention for the guides here who make it a point to take you to every nook and cranny for tiger spotting. Thanks to them, Iâve seen tigers up close and and personal. A note of caution; Iâd not recommend it for the weak hearted. All in all, if you are aiming for a decluttered mind, a therapeutic feeling and a tinge of excitement, I strongly recommend this place. Oh yes, I just forgot to mention, the icing on the cake is the economical factor. It doesnât burn a hole in...
Read moreAfter just one night in KTM, we were already craving to escape the cityâs polluted âjungleâ as soon as possible. Luckily the flights were only âpostponedâ (on the way back cancelled) and our trip to Nepalgunj happened. From then on there was nothing to worry about anymore. THANKS to Mohan from Forest Hideaway everything was perfectly organized, although we had just booked from the airport in KTM. The package included everything we needed (and we did happily pay our luxury beers extra ;). 3 Days safari, walking and by Jeep, best guides, packed lunch and a glimpse of the Tharu village ⌠Well unfortunately we only had 3 days and 4 night. The little resort is beautifully kept and cared for. A place to just BE and relax if you have more than just three days⌠Food and service is great. We did not see âthe tigerâ⌠- but if you love wildlife, there is MORE than âonlyâ the tiger. Watch closely and enjoy every minute of being part of something bigger! We came as âtouristsâ left as lifetime friends.âŚ. AND we will definitely be back for a longer stay! This was one of the best - if not THE best New Yearâs Eves/New Yearâs StartsâŚ. Peaceful and quiet in nature with the best company! Mohan and wife Sita, Kedar, Hari, Arjun, Nabin â THANK YOU FOR EVRERYTHING. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON! Namaste!...
Read more1/5 for the hotel 5/5 for the guides I would only recommend staying there for the nature guides who are just incredibly knowledgable and passionate. Once you have done the jeep and walking safari, there are plenty of other small lovely guesthouse that are better for chilling relaxing and discovering the village around. The garden is quite nice. The hotel itself is quite big so when we were there we were the only ones and it felt very empty in the restaurant. Itâs maybe better suited for large groups of touristes not for single travellers couples or families.. The food is simply horrible. Rooms are practical but donât expect anything cozy. We had deluxe and I donât know what luxe it was meant to be but it had a bad smell of humidity. Finally beware of the expensive safari package they propose. It will be cheaper to decide day by day what you do and negotiate how much you pay because the owner was incapable of providing a breakdown of the package (he basically inflated all the prices including the price of the room which we booked...
