Slightly quixotic and totally delightful small hotel in a quiet and lovely location a short stroll to the River. The street outside is pedestrianised apart from the many many bikes of all shapes and sizes. We had a large ground floor room with a dodgy lock although we got the hang of it after a few attempts to make the room secure. Breakfast, served on a platter for two was quite outstanding. We also had dinner one night and this too was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly and helpful giving good advice.|My wife and I were in Alphen for the Park run at Zegerplas. We took the 182 bus from the bus station about a ten minute walk from the hotel. The bus stops right alongside where the Run starts. You simply check in and out on the bus with a debit or credit card.|We had time to visit the mini Zoo in Alphen which was also worth a visit. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance which helped to make this short stay...
Read moreGorgeous hotel. Very warm welcome. Room was beautiful. Location was perfect for what I needed. There were very steep stairs to get to the upstairs bedroom. A bit challenging for myself and the host with my VERY heavy suitcase although she absolutely insisted on carrying it up for me. I got back at 23.30 that night and hotel was locked up. No idea how to get in but was ultimately directed to the back through a speaker on the doorbell. Hotel fully closed at night so I had nowhere to get a bottle of water (there is a bottle provided in the room but I'd finished it before I left earlier that evening). Explaining these things in advance (no staff after x o'clock or front door would be locked after x o'clock) would have helped me prepare better. That being said, gorgeous spot, lovely obliging staff when they are there and bed was very comfortable. I...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for 2 nights 9th to 11th November to attend a concert at the Castellum Theatre. On word for this hotel - Perfect! The rooms are just so cosy but also functional, everything there that you could need, and although we had concerns about noise with us being on the ground floor and the restaurant being open and close by, we were not disturbed at all. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the beds were so comfortable. The breakfast was exquisite and the coffee was just wonderful! We ate in the hotel on Saturday night, and we had a great conversation with the gentleman who we believe to be the owner. All of the staff were great, and couldn't do enough for you. We will definitely be returning if we visit...
