Bens The Walton — Hotel in Amsterdam

It was an awful experience. We, 4 people, wanted to stay here for 8 nights. We could stay only one-night and that cost us 1700 euros, because the owner didn't want to refund us.

The reasons are They say that the room is for 4 people but we figured out that barely 2 people can stay in this place. Here are the reasons: • We arrived at the place and we found out it is a very small place and 4 people can’t spend 8 days here – 2 people can’t either. As the 2nd floor doesn’t get enough air and AC can’t help to cool the 2nd floor and provide fresh air, it makes the 2nd floor unreasonable to sleep on. • After we arrived at the place, the 1st floor was cold enough and the 2nd floor was boiling (beginning of September). We set the AC to a low temperature and left the place. • Once we arrived at the place, the 1st floor was quite cold and OK but the 2nd floor was still boiling. The windows couldn't be opened, and we couldn’t find a way to get fresh air. • We tried to sleep the first night, I was sleeping on the 2nd floor and woke up several times due to lack of air and it was very hot. Meanwhile, people who were sleeping on the 1st floor were freezing. • Going up or down the staircase is difficult and for the same reason we couldn’t take the luggages up. You can see it from the pictures. I went down to the bathroom and the bathroom door was also quite difficult to close and made a loud noise and woke up people while entering and exiting. You can see it in the videos. • The living room space is not enough to spend some time for 4 people. There wasn’t any space for the luggages, if we kept the luggages in the living room, we simply couldn't fit in the room. And considering that we booked this place to spend for 8 days, this is a nerve-consuming setup. • The bathroom shower area wasn’t protected by a door or curtain, so after each shower the whole bathroom gets wet and there isn’t any equipment to clean this mess. Again, consider that 4 people will stay here for 8 days, this is unreasonable. There was nothing to remove the water with. A small squeegee would have done the job. • The boiler does not allow for 4 people to take shower one...

The pictures were deceiving. The sofa-bed was dirty. The hot water was not enough for 2 consecutive showers (we were 3 people). There was no cleaning service. No cleaning products in the house and there were not even sheets available to put on the sofa bed for the 3rd person. They didn't even have clean pillow or quilt covers (there were hair from previous guests on them). The stairs to get to the bed are tiny and very dangerous, and there is no light switch upstairs so you have to go down every time. The air in the room was dusty and there is not even a single window to let some fresh air in. Note that when you open the sofa bed there is no space left and you even have to move the table and the chairs. If for some reason someone wants to use the tiny cooking hub the air in the room becomes unbreathable and the all the cloths smell like food. No extra toilet papers, no shampoos, no spare towels - There wasn't even a curtain in the "bedroom". TERRIBLE...

5 STARS. Honestly I can't believe people leave such poor reviews. I have spent months trying to find a short-term rental and was absolutely shocked at how beautiful, CLEAN, quiet and comfortable Bens The Walton was. The staff is amazing, the rooms are newly renovated, there are doors on the shower, water DOES NOT go all over the place.
