My family and I had an unforgettable camping trip at De Lakens, staying in one of their cozy De Waard Tents.
The camping site itself is beautiful, surrounded by nature and offering a tranquil environment. The De Waard Tent we stayed in was comfortable, clean, and sufficiently equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was a unique and fun way to experience camping while still having some modern comforts. Only the walking distance to the showers are bit further, but at least they have nice family showers.
One of the highlights of the camping site was the fantastic central playground designed for kids.
The nearby Spar market offered a great variety of products, but we did find the prices to be a tad high. However, considering the convenience of having the market nearby, it was a minor inconvenience. Plus, the selection of products was perfectly adapted for campers, and it made it easy to stock up on essential supplies.
During our stay, we were lucky enough to join the Borrelpop festival, which turned out to be an absolute delight! The music was fantastic, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. What's more, our kids were thrilled to have their own disco, making it a memorable experience for the whole family.
One of the biggest advantages of camping at De Lakens is its fantastic location. Within just a 10-minute walk from the camping site, you'll find yourself at the beach. The convenience of being so close to the shore allowed us to enjoy refreshing morning walks, relaxing afternoons by the sea. The beach's cleanliness and tranquility made it a perfect spot for unwinding and creating lasting memories.
But that's not all! For nature enthusiasts, a short 15-minute walk from the camping site takes you to the magnificent Kennemerland National Park, where you'll encounter stunning sand dunes. Exploring these natural wonders was a truly enriching experience. The diverse flora and fauna of the area make it an excellent destination for hikers and nature lovers. We were fortunate enough to witness some local wildlife and were captivated by the unique charm of the sand dunes.
Having such proximity to both the beach and the national park made our stay at De Lakens even more rewarding. It allowed us to strike the perfect balance between beach fun and immersing ourselves in the...
Read moreWe stayed in a Seashack Deluxe over the F1 weekend. There are some good points and some bad points to cover.||Good Points!|Breakfast|Staff in the restaurant|Proximity to the circuit||Bad Points!|We arrived at Schipol Thursday evening and after a long wait through passport control we finally got an uber to Camping De Lakens. 8km away from the campsite our Uber was stopped and we were advised there was an exclusion zone around Zandvoort and our taxi couldn't enter, we had to get out of our Uber and wait for another taxi who was allowed in the exclusion zone, this taxi driver tried to charge us €80 to get to the camp site 8km away, after some negotiation we got it down to €45 but he had to drop us 1km away from the campsite so we walked in the dark with our 20kg suitcase to find no one at reception. After calling the emergency number 2 security guards came to check us in, gave us our key and told us to follow the signs.... In the pitch black with our suitcase over sand.|I think this could have been avoided if the campsite had contacted us to advise of the road closures and the security guards had circled our accomodation on the map and given us some idea of where to go.|Wasn't a great start!||Our boiling water top was never boiling and just luke warm I WhatsApp'd the number in the welcome folder but never got a reply. We also only had a clean on Sunday even though we turned the sign the precious two days too.||Overall it began very stressfully and I think this could have been avoided with some prior contact from the team.||Was good to be close to the circuit but...
Read moreWe spent a pleasant six days at De Lakens and on the whole it was a good choice for a base from which to explore the wider environs. Although there were hundreds of other tents and vans, the layout in the Dunespot meant that that we felt that we were only connected to five or six nearby campers. The electricity and water supply was convenient, the ablutions were clean and accessible, the local Spar was well stocked and not expensive, the laundry room contained washing machines and driers. The campsite offered excellent access to the beach, to numerous cycle routes, and to the main trunk road to Haarlem and to Zandvoort. Our car didn't move from the day we arrived until it was time to pack up. Instead we walked or cycled and felt all the better for this.||||There were a few negatives that are worth mentioning. Others have commented that the camp restaurant is overpriced, so we were expecting this. What proved more irritating was that the portions of meat seemed ridiculously small compared with what is on offer elsewhere. On the first night that we arrived, there was a noisy beach party that went on until about midnight. Thankfully, the rest of our stay was quieter, up until our final night when there was again a noisy beach party, but on this occasion the strong winds helped to mask the music.||||So on balance a good campsite with great facilities. But if you like to get to sleep at the weekends, you might want to request a camping spot far...
