Let me start by saying I stayed at this hotel in January 2021 and rated my stay as a Hyatt Loyalist and frequent flyer - 5 stars. I believe there has been a change in management, or it is now operated as a franchise. Everything in the hotel (rooms, floors, elevators) is now "cleaned" with pine solvent. The odor is so overpowering that anyone with chemical sensitivity or asthma will suffer if you stay there. I do not have these conditions but the smell was so strong you cant escape it until you leave the hotel. I asked to be moved to another room that may not have been cleaned so recently and the young man working the front desk was accomodating. I appreciated it very much. However, when the manager Melissa found us, she was clearly unhappy that the young man was trying to help us find a less offensive-smelling room. She only spoke in Spanish to him and never addressed us. It was unprofessional and disrespectful. Arubianos are respectful and well-educated. They speak 4 languages and english is one of them. I believe this manager is either not from Aruba or not qualified to be manager of a Hyatt brand hotel. Then the room we stayed in had dirt residue on the light switches and toilet lid, the bathroom floor had particles of something on it and greasy finger prints on thermostat. I was surprised and disappointed by it, so I took photos. Then the safe failed and we couldnt get our money or passports out and had to wait in our room until the maintenance person arrived. It was broken beyond batteries so it had to be disassembled. I will say that the young maintenance man who helped us, came into work an hour early as told to us by the front desk because we had to wait in our room until he got there. He was very capable and once he realized what needed to be done, took care of it. We appreciated that very much. Lastly, there are now no door knob hangers that allow you to ask for privacy (do not disturb) so I asked the front desk to note no housekeeping for our room. However, housekeeping did come. When I asked the manager Melissa about it, she said that yes, it was noted no housekeeping but they do service the room every three days. It was the second day of a three day visit. I was very uncomfortable knowing my room was accessed without my knowledge or permission and not having an opportunity to put my "stuff" away. The breakfast is still good and the person who prepares your plate for you is patient and generous.
We had reserved a night upon our return from Curacao before heading back to the US. We cancelled this and stayed at Aruba Beach Villas (well-appointed, very clean and beautiful location and good price). It is so disappointing because The Hyatt Place Aruba is located at the airport and it is a perfect place to stay for a day or two if you are en-route to some place else. We will however, deal with the inconvenience to stay elsewhere unless there are...
Read moreI don’t write reviews but I thought it was right to do. The staff here is the best service I have ever gotten & we travel all around the world. Staff is so friendly! And helpful! And will get you anything you need! Yes it’s 10-15 mins from the main bars. But those main restaurants are extremely expensive & same with the beach are crowded. Still recommend those areas but not everyday. It’s half way to baby beach which is the best, way chill & less crowded & calmer water. If you need a car. They are right down stairs. We went during there busy season. And NO CAR WERE AVAILABLE ANYWHERE WE CALLED. We waited and in the Monday morning 8:30an after breakfast walked down and talked to hertz & they found us something in the morning. You will WANT/NEED a rental car if you’re going to vacation and stay here but we are rental car people anyways. Note 10$ a day for parking. The rooms are very clean & very spacious. I always love extra towels when extra showering durning beach days, so I prefer hotel over airbnb in this case. Only ONE thing that I wish could have made it better, is there shower heads suck. But most hotels ones do. If they change that one thing. I would say this is surprising one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at (and I stayed at the Wynn in Las Vegas). The breakfast is normal, safe food, normal buffet breakfast. I LOVE they have FREE WATER everyday/everywhere, and it’s all safe & good. They have a menu & drinks from the bar or home service 24/7 and they are amazing. Fun fact, I look into most every hotel in Aruba & the is the BEST PRICE FOR QUALITY!! Some people don’t like how far away it was from everything but we liked it. Easy WALK after you get off the plane. So you can drop your stuff & shower & then go out get your rental car after (because it’s very crowded after everyone getting in at the same time anyways). And check out & hope right on your plane so fast & easy. Definitely coming back to Aruba, and would...
Read moreOn December 25, 2024, Christmas Day we stayed at the HYATT PLACE ARUBA AIRPORT. To our disappointment we were placed in a mold infested ROOM #413. The odour was so intense it permeated throughout our hair and clothing by the next day upon our departure. We advised the representative at the desk of the intense mold odour in our room upon leaving the hotel for our family Christmas dinner that evening. They advised us they would do their best to resolve the problem and did nothing. Upon our return that evening we approached the hotel reception desk and unfortunately our complaint and health concern was not important enough. They dismissed the issue with some empty words that “they would look into it”. Sadly, our health concern was not important enough. Mold is a GRAVE HEALTH & SAFETY CONCERN and this room should not be available for anyone to sleep in. I do not believe this is the only room infested by mold. It was too toxic and it has to have extended into or from other areas. The mold was our main concern but I will also mention (which I would not have written a complaint if it wasn’t for the mold) that the food at breakfast was scarce, no decaf coffee and towels were not available for the pool area. During the rest of our stay in Aruba, thankfully at another hotel, I filled out a complaint and heard nothing from Hyatt customer service. It was only that on January 8, 2025 after I arrived home, I again reached out to their customer service but by phone this time. They mentioned they received the previous questionnaire/complaint and took down my information, gave me a case number and explained that someone would be contacting me. Sadly, I have not heard from anyone almost 4 months after that. Our Christmas day holiday was ruined due to health a safety negligence and the total disregard of safety for customers not taken seriously. DO NOT...
