We stayed in Riva Hotel 2 nights in a standard double room. The room had a comfortable and clean bed with night lamps and bedside tables, a coffee table with coffee pad machine and a kettle. Quite crammed all together with little space between the furniture pieces. Overall nicely decorated room in a modern style, complementary coffee and tea utensils were very useful for us, as we took extensive city walks and a cup of hot tea along the way did cheer you up on a chilly day. The bathroom was also nice and clean, no funny smells.
Negative: The sewage in the shower was definitely clogged, as after just a short time you would stand in a puddle of water while taking a shower, as the water did not run down fast enough. After a couple of minutes the water in the puddle will become cold, so when you’ve finished the shower, you had to stand in a cold puddle of water before getting out, which was uncomfortable.
Plenty of parking lots are available directly at the hotel, even a couple of e-charging parking spots. E-chargers didn’t work for us, as they were from the local provider, who didn’t support instant payment option. It may be hard to find a parking in the evening on a weekend, as there seems to be many visitors to the hotel’s restaurant and casino.
The hotel is located outside the Hague, right next to another beautiful small city of Delft. You need to drive to the Hague or take public transport option, as parking fees in the city centre vary between 15 Euro per day up to 6 Euro per hour (April 2025).
If you travel by an electric car, you may find some free parking spots for charging not very far from the city center (20 minutes walk to the Mauritshuis) with an affordable electricity price for charging.
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would probably come again, should we ever visit the...
Read moreI do not recommend it. We stayed at the hotel this weekend (December 14-15, 2024). Check-in is from 2 PM, which is absolutely fine, but in my experience, if I arrived earlier and the room was available, polite staff would usually allow early check-in at no extra charge. We arrived three hours early, the room was available, but the otherwise polite gentleman informed us that every hour of early check-in is charged at €10 per hour. We left the hotel three hours earlier this morning; does that mean we should have received €30 back for leaving three hours early? Parking is free, but it belongs to Hornbach, not the hotel, which isn’t clearly stated. This means that if you arrive at the wrong time or in the afternoon/evening on weekends, you likely won’t find parking. The parking lot is shared with the hotel and a restaurant that attracts non-hotel guests. The room temperatures were 18°C, which is quite cold for this time of year when it’s freezing outside. Additionally, there’s a draft from the windows. When you remove the card from the reader and spend several hours outside, the room becomes freezing cold. We returned to the room around 11:30 PM, and the temperature only became comfortable around 4 AM. The showers are spacious, which is, of course, a big plus (maybe the only one), but the drainage doesn’t work properly. If you take a longer shower, the bathroom floods. Breakfast is not included in the price, which is fine and as I expected when booking. However, the option for breakfast is €17.50 per person? Extremely expensive.
All in all, if you book a room for two that normally costs €111 (at least that’s what I paid), and if you add breakfast for two at €17.50 each, and arrive three hours early, the room ends up costing €176. You’re better off choosing a hotel closer to the...
