Inn The Bay Bed & Breakfast — Hotel in Kaikōura

Great location, although please note the references in other reviews to the spectacular view from the breakfast room are outdated - the owners have decided not to allow guests in that area due to Covid and their small children. Entirely understandable but was an unpleasant surprise. Hopefully this will change soon. ||||The room itself was in the back of the property on the first floor, with no view, but it was comfortable enough, with a nice modern bathroom. The large first floor breakfast room was stocked with substantial continental breakfast fare. ||||Another issue with the property is the wifi/internet. The owners provide free vouchers for internet service, which say they offer 1Gig of data each, but in reality they offer about 1/10th of that, so we had to keep logging in again with new vouchers all the time. Also the Smart TV's are not hooked up to the internet, so none of the apps like Netflix or Amazon work. We got our Roku to work, but getting through a single movie took logging in with new vouchers about 6 times. Finally, the property is unable to accept credit cards or any form of internet payment, e.g. Paypal, Zelle, Venmo, etc. One of the owners suggested we go to the local bank - please note this is about the last thing someone wants to have to deal with on a holiday. We eventually did an electronic bank transfer from a NZ bank account one of us had, but this will be a problem for international visitors obviously. ||||Anyway, we still had a nice time in Kaikoura, with some great seal and dolphin watching, and I'd still recommend the area...

Мы прибыли в Кайкоура в 9 вечера с парома. Предварительно на букинге мы попросили хозяина "поздний приезд", который был мгновенно согласован. Такого мы не ожидали! Хозяин - молодой парень- встретил нас как своих лучших друзей, с искренней улыбкой всех обнял и был крайне рад нас видеть! ||В нашем распоряжении была огромная гостиная с ТВ и музыкальной системой, креслами и зоной отдыха, из которой выходы в 2 спальни. Там же в гостиной чайный уголок и холодильник. Спальни огромные и оформлены в морском стиле - ракушки, камушки, растения. Одна двуспальная и одна односпальные кровати удобные и мягкие. В спальне отдельная душевая комната.||Отель Inn the Bay BB был вторым из 10 наших отелей в путешествии БЕЗ кухни. Поначалу мы расстроились, но к номерам автоматически предлагается завтрак. Это вам не просто завтрак в отеле - это завтрак у лучшего друга! который вдобавок еще и повар в одном из пляжных ресторанов. Завтрак накрывается на втором этаже, где невероятно уютная обстановка и потрясающий вид на море! Накрывает завтрак жена хозяина. К своему стыду не помню ни одного имени... Так вот, хозяин приготовил наши продукты, которые остались в поездке (пожарил бекон, запек грибы), на столе у нас еще были свежайшие новозеландский творог, йогурт, фрукты и джемы, хлопья разных видов, сыр, колбаса, орехи. Чай-кофе-сок. Ну и что меня приятно удивило - свежий хлеб, который хозяйка испекла сама к нашему завтраку! Господи, мы не завтракали так красиво и приятно ни разу за всю поездку!||Про море. Оно рядом, прямо через дорогу! Ну почему в Кайкоура такая холодная вода в декабре??? ||Налево от ресторана в 10 минутах пешком находится собственно тусовочный центр - рестораны, магазины и центра серфинга, дайвинга и тп. А налево хозяин нам рассказал про самую дешевую кафешку, где можно дешево поесть омаров. Итак, направо от отеля обогнуть мыс и прямо на берегу будет небольшая палатка, где продают и готовят потрясающие морские продукты. Комплексная тарелка 50 NZD. Объесться!||Ох, если бы не жесткий график путешествия, то мы бы застряли в Кайкоура в Inn the Bay на недельку! Это место, из которого...

We only stopped for a night in Kaikoura and wish we could've stayed longer. After pulling into the driveway and seeing our name above our parking space we were greeted by Kylie and the little ones and shown to our room. Couldn't fault the B&B it was just lovely, right on the sea front and only a short walk to see the seal colonies. You couldnt ask for nicer guests who have thought of everything you could need for a stay. It was lovely to be invited upstairs to have breakfast with them, it was a shame that we were in a rush in the morning to make our early dolphin tour, otherwise it would've been great to have a more relaxed breakfast at the B&B.
