Needed a place to stay for 2 nights before making the 8hour drive back home, to my surprise from the outside the place looked fashionably pleasing especially to the eye. The unique wood work. However this came to be short lived.
Arrived on site shortly after making a call with male receptionist that a “standard studio” room would be available for me. Budget wise this was pleasing. $150. However came about reception & was told by female working at the time that no rooms were available & only 1 bedroom suites were available as of that moment. Having no choice & other near by alternatives being fully booked out I paid $340 for both nights. (at this point I was hoping to be informed of any pests sitings or removal going on or aircon situation but however was not.)
After receiving the key for my room, I made my way out to the back to find that many “standard studio”s had not been stayed in & for whatever reason this could have been. If up selling was the situation by law this was legally unacceptable. Key was jammed & took a couple tugs here & there to finally unlock & when opened room released a warm humid stench with worn out stained curtains & beds that sunk right through as you sat on them. Not long after being in the room 2 enormous cockroaches were sited. One dead which laid in the middle of the room & looked like it had been there for a while as no one had disposed of it & another in the back room where the double bed was. That area stunk of urine & I assume it had risen from the mattress. Unsure of what was underneath the sheet I removed myself quickly. open area found in the back of the room had small match burnt marks & stuffed matches in the creases of the wall to hide them rather than dispose them. Could not breathe properly in the room even with back door wide open. Room had No aircon & fans were filled with dusts. Tv would twitch & go black screen. Wifi only worked in the frontal living space. Anywhere near the toilet& last would eliminate the whole connection. Decided to go for a breather by the outdoor Pool only to find that to my surprise leaves & a few sandflies were hovering over it.
Unfortunately when addressing the room situation I was not able to receive a refund due to “policy” however I could not stay there… the room was dirty, unpleasant & unhealthy at most. Attempted multiple times to nap but the stench of the urine mattress from the back room, old odor from the living space itself began to take a toll on my breathing & hay fever allergies. Was left with no option but to skip the days meal. pull what I had left out of savings to get me a decent & quality stay for the night. Generable mention to Jet Park Hotel! Dropped $90 off a $349 room for me as they were truly intrigued by my situation & because of being out of pocket. instead of resting for 2 nights..hopped back on the road the next morning.
I do not recommend staying here, if quality is what you’re after. Even for the “night” may seem convenient up until you can barely get any rest! Do hope this place has plans to rebuild or reconsider core renovation on this staple. It has a ton of potential but from what has been posted on here over the past 5-6yrs this place will only be up for as long as people need a place to stay. Those being “Emergency housing.” Please don’t waste your money here. A range of good places close by. My regret would have been not coming to google reviews any earlier would have been able to...
Read moreWe had missing amenities (no utensils, knives, cutting boards, dishwashing sponges, cleaning products), fridge is leaking water all over the floor, generally the whole room is filthy- sticky gunk in carpet, kitchen is filthy (literal food and dried on sauces to stove top, floor and on microwave shelf- these weren't wiped down after the last tenant or the floor even swept), bathroom mirrors are filthy and toilet seat is broken (husband has temporarily fixed this as best as possible for the time being), garbage and residents' furniture and items strewn through carpark and walkways, along with their BABIES under 2 years old crawling around in the carpark on HOT bricks in just nappies!!! We have had random people banging on our windows past midnight and we have a THREE YEAR OLD trying to sleep inside. On top of this, many residents have been extremely noisy and obnoxious, and considering our first night is a Tuesday night- what is going on?! (Yes, we will call the Police if it happens again), TV remote in lounge room does not work, all surfaces seems to be sticky and dusty (lack of regular cleaning- we have scrubbed the dining table 3 times with detergent, sponges and paper towel and it is still sticky), dining chairs dusty as well as general items throughout, curtains are poorly hung and do not block out light. Very disappointed with everything.
After requesting that you supply us with the amenities advertised, we were given a charcuterie board for chopping, 3 knives, a spatula, 2 pairs of tongs and 1 dishwashing sponge.
We had to buy a grater, can opener, and vegetable peeler, plus containers and cling wrap for food storage to be able to make simple food.
If we had the option to source another property anywhere around Auckland we would be doing that immediately, but our party is 6 adults and 1 child so this is not an easy task, and we would be losing over a $1000 we have already paid to stay in...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE. Rude staff, rooms rundown and shoddy. Milk expired in fridge. Not the cleanest. Refused to take booked passengers to airport for international flights because HE left EARLY and without us. Acted like child and called other person a lier repeatedly when she explained she was WAITING well before the 5am leave time. Threatened to have my car towed away. And last but not least, stole my digital Camera from my luggage while I was trying to load myself and other passenger in my car to get us to the airport. Cost me not only my camera, but a huge cost in airport parking because he made us so late to airport with his shenanigans. When I rang Oakwood after my return, basically got laughed at by staff about it, and told that what did I expect (re my camera) as they are in Mangare ???? (yet it was the staff that took it??) -
