Celtic Motel — Hotel in North Island

My sister and I were heading to the Bay of Plenty for a few days, leaving straight after work on Friday 23 August. We decided we needed to overnight somewhere, rather than drive straight through in the dark, and chose the Celtic Motel in Foxton for two reasons - the positive reviews and its location away from SH1. We were thrilled with our choice. We received a warm welcome on arrival, our unit was comfortable and warm, it was well-stocked with all the essentials, our beds were very comfortable and there was no traffic noise. The only negative was the poor design of the shower which sprayed water towards the toilet when turned-on. We quickly decided to forgo showers when we discovered the problem. Stayed here on a Saturday night, Linda was very welcoming. Room was good with a quiet location off the main road. My wife was going to a function while I stayed with my child. Linda was kind enough to provide a trip home for my wife later in the night, we paid her to do so as their are no taxis in Foxton so we were very appreciative of this special service. Also my wife left a cardie behind and the owners dropped it into our letterbox in Palmerston North, sensational service. The only thing we were surprised by was the cost of the unit at $220 for 2 adults and 1 child, only had a wall divider between main bed and singles and this was the off season. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Foxton I would very highly recommend Celtic Motel - it was probably one of the nicest motels I have ever stayed in! From the wonderful hosts to having everything you needed they have you covered. You can really tell a lot of love and thought goes into the motel and it’s guests and it’s something you rarely see now days. Comfy beds, great bathrooms, very clean and tidy, lots of attention to detail eg- cables around the tv are neatly disguised instead of being strewn everywhere, an extra plug by the side table to charge your phones, towels and toiletries available- it was also nice and quiet.
