Gemini Lodge — Hotel in North Island

Gemini is located on a large lakefront property with four houses, the owner's and three rentals. There is also a children's playground, a basketball hoop, a large field on which to kick a ball, a sauna and a pretty, landscaped swimming pool. All the shared facilities families with children would enjoy.

We were three adults in Rotorua on business. We stayed three nights midweek in late May and it was excellent. We were the only guests and it was very quiet and peaceful. The nights were clear and we saw the blood moon eclipse over the lake.

Gemini Lodge was well set up with three bedrooms and three toilets, so we all had put own space. There was even a small desk to work on in one of the upstairs rooms, which looked out over the lake. Tui sung in the trees around us and the autumn foliage was gorgeous. Our thoughtful hosts generously left us some lovely snacks and as well as the usual teas and coffees there was some special teas like green and Pu Erh.

The location was excellent, being just three minutes drive to Peppers where we enjoyed an elegant dinner. Our favourite experience though is of the boat tour our host took us on, across Lake Rotorua, through the bird filled Ohau Channel and to the Manupirua hot pools on Lake Rotoiti. Such a stunning location. We stayed in the Fantail chalet and we had a great time even though the weather was not good to us. They have a lot of facilities such as a pool, spa, free kayaks to use and also have a trampoline & playground area for the kids which was great. Joe & Cynthia were amazing hosts & they also had a folder with recommendations on what to do in Rotorua which was great as well. The only downside for me was the living room area is not big enough to accommodate 8 people when it was pouring down rain and we were all inside. They do have the firepit & tables and bbq area that we unfortunately could not make use of due to the weather. But everything else made up for it. Thanks for having us. Would...

All we have to say is that three nights here was nowhere near long enough, we have absolutely loved our stay here. The place is amazing it has everything and more that we expected. But most of all what stood out most to us was the amazing hospitality, Joe you are awesome such a top bloke and we loved your humbleness and when you engaged with us it was genuine, very hard to find a beautiful place with beautiful people so thank you and we have now decided we will be coming here every year as a tradition of ours so once...
