The Oasis "resort" is an iconic relic from the 1970s. A well located motel wedged between the main road and the lakefront in Taupo's 2 mile Bay. The facilities are in much need of a total revamp but had a delightful charm. The beds were comfortable and the location only metres from the water made up for the forgotten state of the place. The small complex is now run from the hotel next door so no onsite manager but the cleaning staff were friendly and efficient. A courtyard in the centre is the units had a heated pool and a quirky spa pool. A run down tennis courtyard sits at the North end of the complex. We visited in summer on a very warm weekend do spent our time in the lake instead. Located on the very popular Lion's Walk, there was some great people watching to be had and the area is also a thermal zone with hot water leaching into the lake from under the sand. Just dig a hole to make your own heated soak pool. Downsides - very small kitchen space and tiny fridge. The unit design has high windows which has no curtains so you'll need an eye cover if you're a light sleeper. The complex had no luggage trolleys and the parking is not outside the units so expect a sweaty 15 mins getting your bags into your room.

Meh 😑 is the best way to describe this place. Customer service wasn’t that great. E.g. Jen the receptionist needs training in multitasking effectively and customer service manners. I called her for the wifi password, she says it’s on a piece of paper she gave me. Me thinking it was on the receipt she gave us I checked. It wasn’t on the receipt. I tried to call her back only for her to hang up or not answer the call. Had to send my sister all the way down to the receptionist desk only for her to argue that she had given it which wasn’t the case 🙄. Didn’t apologise at all. Then there were issues with the apartment like how it wasn’t 100% clean. Yes I have pictures. There was also an ant problem in the kitchen, stains on the blanket that looked like blood stains and cobwebs up on the ceiling and the place smelled like they needed to at least air it out for a few days. Only good things I can state was the privacy the apartment provided, the view was awesome, the fact that a fridge and utensils for the kitchen and the handy mini soaps/body lotions/shampoos and conditioners were provided with the place was good.

These people made our lake side stay magical, the family needed a long over due holiday, they looked after us from the front counter to restaurant to the cleaning of rooms, they treated us more as friends than clients, they all showed genuine interest when talking to our kids and interacted with them so well that the kids are already talking abut what they will do there next trip. Swimming in the lake without crossing the road to get there is awesome, no road to cross , simply grass then lake, awesome work team, thank you so much, thanks Chef and team for our boys special dinner.... best holiday in years, the Hufflepuff's are happy

The front desk staff were amazing one couldn't fault! But felt really disappointed & let down by the Millennium Hotel Chain attaching ones name to the Oasis "which it's so not " the rooms are run down & very small, my room having two single beds were the smallest beds I have ever seen like sleeping in a coffin not being able to turn, I'm not a big person either. Decor is very dated, kitchen is like going to your grandmother holiday home. Heat pump had turned a dirty yellow colour plus not working well for the winter months which can be freezing, windows were old fashioned drafty with gaps between the glass in my bedroom & bathroom, the place needs to be closed for a makeover as the list can go on. We had a lake front apartment the view is fabulous, but staying there wasn't relaxing. The pools are great the only plus to the place. We decided to stay there with being able to have breakfast next door at the Millennium Hotel, after traveling overseas earlier this year & seeing what was on offer at wonderful hotels, the breakfast was so disappointing I'm embarrassed being a kiwi that this is what an international chain offers visitors - not even homemade muesli, artisan breads, real fruit juice, having to pay extra for a hot chocolate ( when you don't drink tea or coffee ) latte, Mocha are all at an extra cost. Think seriously if you want to stay here as there are so many other gorgeous places around the lake to stay in. We won't be back unless it's had a makeover. Felt sorry for the front desk lady's who were incredible having to put up with many a problem, two days in a row our rooms never got serviced on returning late afternoon 3pm, having problems with housekeeping so all in all over our long weekend away not feeling pampered or...

I highly don't recommend, over priced for very dated badly designed (to hot if it's hot, and freezing if it's not) . Definitely bring a roll of electrical tape to do running repairs as required. Not sound proofed, so great if the neighbors kids get up at 5.30 every morning. On returning to the room the first evening I started looking for the heater that had been left on, (there wasn't one, just massive windows lots of sun on no curtains on the top windows) it would have been close to 50 degrees in the room and the Aircon had been running full on cold the entire afternoon. The pool and spa are of the same seventies design and that was probably the last time they were cleaned .. You also have the privilege of going next door and using the millennium hotels amenities.. these are slightly less dated. The food in the Edgewater restaurant is fine even bordering on good, however it's still well over priced.. and being new years eve we went in for the buffet, now agreeably I should have asked the price but really who does, you assume it'll be 40 ish bucks.. again the food was fine probably slightly better than the $18.00 special at the RSA however on paying the bill I find they're charging $80.00 per person.. thank God the kids opted for chicken nuggets and Pizza! On the whole the only thing this place has going for it is the location and the staff were friendly and helpful if you can find them.. as they generally don't answer the phone.. Honestly guys just put a bulldozer through it...
